This weekend that passed was probably one of the most nerve wrecking and happiest weekends I can remember (other than when my children were born).

On Friday we were told that on Saturday the names would be released of the 2000 people that would be able to go for haj from South Africa. On Saturday morning we logged on to check, and there's a notice on the site saying they delaying the release to Sunday. We waited most of Sunday, just before going to read Asr salaah, I figured, take just one last look and then forget about hearing anything till monday. Afterall the've been delaying this information from the 8th of August already. We logged on and, Shukar to Allah, Almighty our names were on. My husband, myself and 2 very good friends of ours. UNfortunately I know of a few people who appliesto late, so their names were not on. :girl3: .

I was so excited to see my name on the list that when I called my mum to tell her, I cried. Like I said the only other times I felt so blessed that I cried was when my kids were born.

WE hoping to leave for Saudi between the 20th and 26th of November, insha-allah.

I just needed to share this with everyone. my head is still spinning, hopefully it stops before we leave or I'll never find the plane... LoL...

I am so happy for you!!!

Its a pity about all of the South Africans who had been dissapointed. We here in South Africa have been monitoring this situation and are not impressed by the way the South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC) have handled it

I know, we were a group of 4 couples (all good friends) that planed to go together, we all did all our bookings with the same agent and been doing all our preperations together. When the names were finally released 1 couple's names were excluded.

As for SAHUC, Allah guide them. It really seems that they have no idea what they doing and how to do it. THey have no diplomatic training and negotiations skills to be doing a job of such importance. In my opinion they need to be replaced, the only problem is finding a group of people less confused and more competant than them.
