:salam2: brothers and sisters...

there is a very, very shocking news which happened over here in india...
2 days before my brother went to KFC to have chicken, and there were many muslims, 1 lady came and asked the waiter ' is the chicken halal'? and the waiter did not know what is halal, and he spoke rudely to that girl , and said.' i dont know, if you want to eat then you are welcome, other wise keep moving', so that girl got angry and said ' answer to my question, who are you to talk to me like this?', and she started fighting loudly, so, almost many muslims heard and asked her' whats the problem?, and she said so.. after that every one (muslims)made a group, and banded that person, and they said that.' cant you say that this is halal?, if you people behave like this, then we will close this KFC', and the waiter was so damn scared, and however they calmed those people..................................................... and again yesterday my brother went over there, and saw a big board written ' HALAL FOOD'...:D
AFTER LISTENING TO THIS STORY I SAID WOW!, WHAT A UNITY, ALHAMDULILLAH!...
may allah forgive him...'

What? I always heard that the KFC here (in India) most likely won't serve halal food, because sikhs are one of their biggest customers, and *they* don't eat halal food. I've never even been in a KFC because I always fear its not halal. This is a kaafir country, where *jhatka meat* (not halal) is very popular. Who do you think the businesses are going to favour, us or them?

I've heard a lot of muslims say, "oh we went to pizza hut and tried the chicken tikka pizza," and I ask "can we eat meat there, is it halal?" And no one is ever sure, but they *think* so..

Ever since I watched a clip of the inhumane treatment of chickens by KFC...I have decided that if I were to starve a breath short of *death* I wouldn't eat there...add to it the halal/haram issue..and there goes a bigger reason for not eating there..on another note...I do think it was very kind of the Muslims present to stand up for the sister..mashallah it's beautiful to see acts like these especially when its in defense of a Muslim or Muslimah (regardless of the *main circumstance*)

I know that a lot of the big cities aren't going to have halal meat - all the big fast food chain restaurants etc, I never eat there. At least my city is different - the only butchers here are muslim, so you know that all the restaraunts have no other meat source, so its all halal. But you never know with the rest of the country.

my brother recently came to know that they bring meat from an muslim shop..
the owner of this KFC is my brothers friend, and he said him..
but the waiter did not know the meaning of 'halal food', so he is now removed..
rest allah knows better

It's usually good to eat at restaurants owned by muslim people in major Indian cities. Otherwise, it's always good to ask if the owners aren't muslim.

We have muslim neighborhoods where we have our own butchers, restaurants etc etc. It's not that hard to find out. :)

And fast food in India isn't really that great.. lol.. The food sold by street dwellers (thela) are a good way to snack and usually everything they sell is vegetarian so no worries there.

Well talking about India, we have a considerable population there (of muslims) and they are aware that we eat 'halaal meat' and there are 'halaal butchers' where they can get their meat from. So I dont think that they don't know about it. :)

In India, well most of the restaurants owned by non muslims are owned by hindus (atleast in my area) and they usually don't serve meat. They are known for their vegetarian food (thali etc).

Muslims usually eat their meat dishes from muslim restaurants. :) There are few intercontinental type of hotels and restaurants, but I have never been in them so I can't say what they serve. But I think muslims avoid eating in non-muslim owned restaurants/hotels when it comes to meat. They are few in number (atleast where I am from).

I hear you brother, I am here in Texas and have like 0 halaal restaurants in my city.. sigh :(

As far as I know, I have had cow meat in India. If there has been a change in situation, then I am not aware of it. Possibly someone living in India currently can answer. :)

You can't really slaughter cows here, because the Hindus consider cows to be their sacred *mother*. Astaghfirullah. But if someone gets hold of a cow secretly and slaughters it then its no problem, though I haven't heard of anyone doing this. It's just goats and buffaloes here. Thank goodness for chicken. And thank goodness for muslim owned fast food outlets, though as BrotherInIslam7 says, its not really that good. And street vendors (thela) are worse hygiene-wise. I miss America and all the food options there, though then too I used to starve in college because the cafetaria hardly served any vegetarian option.

I once had an Afghan meal in Minneapolis. It was one of the best meals I've ever had in my life.

Sister, seriously I can't believe you said that.. lolz ... :p

I would trade the food choices offered in US anyday for the ones that I get in India ( or UAE for that matter ;) ) .. Btw I dont want to gross you out, but in some of the restaurants in India, some of the food lasts for weeks. I heard that a restaurant in my hometown in India, cooks daal (lentil soup) in bulk and serves it upto 4 weeks by reheating.. Sorry now its going to be hard to have daal i guess :p

Oh yea.. kebabs on the thela are a total no-no.. that could make you sick in minutes .. ;)

Do you remember what it was ? because this really makes me curious .. :)

A MUSLIM BROTHER
Assalamu Alaikum

:salam2: ,
Most of the people in India have no idea what Halal is. Very few of them know abt it , if they had encountered a practicing muslim friend or a customer or was living in a muslim environment.

People just tell for the heck of it that it is HALAL. Thats my erxperience.

I had visited a restaurant and i asked if the chicken there was Halal. The owner just said that it is. And i asked him where does he get his meat from. He gave some vague answers. I don't believe what the people say as they are no strict rules to sue them or to take them to justice if they lie.

to tell u the truth ive never been to INdia but if it was a non muslim shop or fast food restauraunt i wud be scared to eat there

:D lol for me I think the best is Pak :D cuz there from wat i have seen everything is certified halal so :D u can eat anything lol :D

lol oh btw :) im not sure in india if its the same case but in Pak on those thela's u can get meat burgers too very tasty lol but not the healthiest option :)
just the pleasures of a muslim country

Well. I meant that you get better vegetarian fast food options in America. But I live in a small place where you can't really get good pizza easily, so I want pizza, lol. Indian food can be cooked at home. People don't usually eat daal at a restaraunt when you can make delicious hygienic daal at home. See it like this: when you're in India, you can get all your homecooked food at home. But if you want some change or some sort of fast food, there's no option. But if you're abroad, you can still can get all your homecooked food at home, but you can also get other fast food. See what I mean?

The Afghan meal I had was an Afghani platter, with different types of rice, different kababs, different grilled meats etc. Uhh.. why are we talking about food when we're fasting? >_<

oh another problem, that i faced in canada before i knew it Halal doesn't mean "Halal" alot of the arabs , im sorry i dont mean to be pointing fingers but ive seen this in only arabs , they eat everything thats not pork or has alcohol saying its halal.
So now u have to ask people if its Zabiha Halal which means slaughtered in a halal manner cuz not everyone eats according to that so gotto be careful

just a heads up :)

soulzcore

Abd-Allah !!
If the place is Hyderabad, then all of the KFC's are Halal and also almost all restaurants serve halah food and I guess Hyderabad is the only place left in India where cows are still slaughtered..
