Height

Salam alaikum

Have you, or someone you know, ever prayed to Allah to increase their height, and it was given to them?

Note: I don't mean someone with tall parents who becomes tall, but a situation where everyone in that person's background is very short, but after making dua, he/she becomes taller. A situation that seems miraculous.

make duaa for that, and in sha Allah, Allah will send sakina(feeling of peace) to you about your expectations and results.

is there a reason why you feel you need to be tall or short?

if feel influences from others about you physical appearance: let me share with you a brief explanation of a few Ayat of Quran relative to influences that are not appropriate:

Allah grants dua according to what He thinks is the best for us - therefore we must always be patient with what we have.

But yes, when I was little, I was the shortest person in my class. We used to stand height-wise in our school assembly, and from the time I transferred to one particular school that did this, from grade 2nd to grade 10th, I always stood first in line. When I was in fifth grade, my school principal used to say I looked like a kindergarten student, and when I was in tenth grade, she said I looked like someone in fifth grade. I used to feel bad because I was teased constantly. But alhamdulillah, later on I grew taller that I was even above a little of the average height of where I come from. Both my parents are short, (though some of my uncles/aunts are quite tall.) My mother always used to make dua to Allah "Please make my children grow one handspan taller than me." Alhamdulillah, Allah granted her dua, lol. All her children are more than a handspan taller than her. :)

Um.. I didn't mean to write this entire story. oh well. Allahu Akbar. Make dua, and inshallah, eat well, and get lots of exercise - also, hang around on the monkey bars...

it's not that people say anything, I just wanted to know if Allah answers these types of dua.

Thanks for the reply.

By 'Allah will send you sakina' are you subtly saying that it is NOT gonna happen?

I'm a sis!! And I will politely decline to answer the question. However, do not focus on solely one thing. I would advise to rather make dua about other more important things as well, and just leave everything to Allah.

I can not answer if Allah will accept and answer your duaa. No one can.

Allah is able to do all things. وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ is repeated many times in the Quran.

try to invest in learning more of the prophet, PBUH, I am assuming you are young.

Do you know that the prophet, PBUH, would have hunger and no means to obtain meat for like three months. He, PBUH, would tie a rock to his stomach to relieve the feeling of hunger.

He the prophet, PBUH, could of asked Allah, swt, for food, but he didn't. And you know or will come to know much of the duaa he made was answered.

Now if the prophet didn't make duaa for such a necessary thing like food during those trying times, just imagine how out of sync we all became with our duaas.

Allow me to teach you a duaa:

this was narrated from Aisha, ra that the prophet PBUH, said when viewing himself in a mirror:

اللَّهُمَّ كَمَا حَسَّنْتَ خَلْقِي فَأَحْسِنْ خُلُقِي

Oh Allah, you have made me beautiful(in appearance/creation), so make beautiful my manners(way of life). ---( my rough translation)

-Ahmad

you say this duaa when you see yourself in the mirror or other reflections.

Thanks for the dua bro.

The reason why I asked is because I've never heard or witnessed Allah answer a dua miraculously, such as in this case for example (because height is genetic) (Apart from for Prophets of course)

I don't think these things ever happen. Do you know anyone who made a dua that seemed against the laws of science, but was answered? Probably not

I know you can make dua for everything but we are supposed to be happy the way allah made us. Alhamdulilah

Thanx for the reply

Allah probably won't increase my height, and I'll probably have to accept my height, to 'tolerate' it, but I will never be 'happy'.

And I know this will only cause me harm, and that it doesn't bother Allah, but I refuse to lie about it and put up a fake smile and say 'Thank you Allah I LOVE my height'. I'm grateful and happy for many things, health, family, food, but I AM NOT HAPPY with my height. That's just something I need to hold on to, (even after knowing that I'm the only one who is gonna suffer) it's not about ingratitude to Allah, but more towards the realistic neutral side.

Used to be active here!
continue to make dua'. the wisdom behind is 'Allah is able to do all the things.' He knows what is best for you. have a firm belief that he will increase your height. Who wants you to put a fake smile and say 'Thank you Allah!'. Allah would change your heart to love your tallness in real and would make you say "Alhamdulillah" with whole heartedness. Thats the real wisdom behind asking dua'. And remember All dua's are answered, if you patiently perserve.

And seriously, read the story of a shahaba named Julaybib, in sha Allah. YOU WILL BE HAPPY WITH YOUR HEIGHT, in sha Allah.

allah is with me

Rabana Wa laqal Hamd

I know Allah can do anything, but a part of me is a bit paranoid - I fear that Allah is settiing me. That he's giving me this false hope just so I can behave well and increase worship, like a horse with a carrot dangling in front of it.

But the way that this is going to ultimately end is probably ---

I'll start practicing more of Islam, to increase sincerity and likelihood of dua being answered...

When I realize that 5 years has passed and I'm still a midget, I'll already be too religious to be bothered, and I'll carry on doing lots of worship.

nothing wrong with that, but it feels like a set up.

A horse chasing a dangling carrot.

My height was normal but i became taller without intending it and alhamdulillah i am happy with it.

Here's what happened.

During summer vacations i used to hang from a swing and rock back and forth.Like crazy monkey stuff. When i returned school everybody was amazed.Even my teachers didn't knew what happened to me.I realized that i had become taller only when my classmates told me.

You can try basketball or try hanging to some tree or anything higher. It worked for me.Might work for you too.
