I recently dreamt of a burning church and it burnt to ashes. The church became dark after burnt. This made me worried and i asked my husband to go and see whether there were anybody alive or anything happened to human lives inside that church. This was my dream basically. It is worrying when i woke up. I dream this after tahajjud.do you have any idea about this?

When I read your post, you said that you told your husband about the dream, and your gender under your name says that you are a male.

As per the question, the best is to ask a scholar about it inshaAllah. It is not appropriate for anybody to talk about what they "think" without excellent knowledge on the matter.

As salam alaikum,

And one more thing. Good dreams is good to share with close friends and family , not forum, whereas disturbing dreams with no one. There is hadith for this. If you need authentic source I might be able to provide it.

Do Scholars even interpret dreams? If so, where does their information come from?

Dreams are not a science and to me a lot of it seems "fortune telling"-ish.

As salam alaikum,

Prophet s.w.a.s did interpret dreams that were for the religion, and those interpretation would be valid ( as for example when he dreamt about the milk that Abu Bakr r.a and Omar r.a.), but caution must be excercised. Prophet s.w.a.s also adviced to talk the good dreams, as they are from Allah. It is great way of Allah's help and at times guidance. Yet, to me dreams are personal and should be practiced talking them in a more intimate social group, rather than a forum. That is my opinion.

Dont judge someone by their username. People always mistake me as a male because of Alf :shymuslima1:

I assure you all, I am a female :)

Yeah but below his username it says 'Gender: Male'.

:salam2:

Interesting....

well i can think of couple of reasons...

1) since it is the first post and it is about a scary dream i can assume the person was in hurry to get the answer and didn't fill out the additional required information properly while registering. (It says male first under the gender column)
2) English is not his/her first language or he/she just made a mistake while typing.
3) uhh... it is a fake id? ( which i don't hope to be true)

Assalam 'ALaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh sister

Yes scholars do interpret dreams. Its NOT like fortune telling. Astaghfirullah!

Dream interpretation is not a science, but when we relate what we saw to the interpreted dreams and signs which are rightly narrated from the prophet (pbuh) and the Sahaba (radiyallahu 'anh), it becomes a complete interpretation which comes true with the permission of Allah.

Someone who does not have the knowledge of it, is not allowed to interpret dreams for anybody.

:salam2:respected brother,is it possible that a normal person can do it,even if nobody considerds him a scholar?if this person is a good believer, but maybe hasn't enough knowledge(because the Knowledge belongs to Allah and He shows us only what He wants)about hadith(because he hadn't the chance to study in an islamic school or to take part to the lessons about Islam)or so,can it be possible that this normal person has a kind of familiarity with the interpretation of dreams(may is it through jinn's help or through a long study of own's dreams and the reportation of them on a sort of diary in which it is given the meaning of each thing)?regards.

As salam alaikum,

Even we say we don't interpret, personal dreams are somehow felt their meanings by the fitrah, that Allah does inspire in each person. But if you provide the interpretation of your personal dream to broad audience, that is more of an issue, than if you seek consultation in a close circle. Dreams most definitely are related to so many details of personal life and experience that no one would feel comfortable revealing to everyone. Religious dreams, in this case, still might have connection to your personal experience with the quoted religion. Maybe you have felt something previous to the dream, and dream is reflecting it... Allahu alem. I would seek dream understanding with dua, talking it to very close and trusty circle, and wait for the time to reveal what is unclear. Most of the time dreams are crystal clear for believers. Allahu alem.

Wa'alaikumussalam Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh dear sister

I have answered to the question of sister alf2 as she asked if scholars do interpret dreams and where does their information comes from. The answer to her question is yes, and I have explained how and where it comes from, basically. Moreover, this is not something everybody can do in a large scale. That is the reason why in Saudi, when a very famous scholar who interpret dreams wanted to teach it, some scholars raised the issue that if its a knowledge which can even be taught like that. Its not merely relied upon the knowledge alone, but differs from person to person, according to the ability Allah has given to them.

The best book I have came across on this matter is "Dream Interpretation according to the Quran and Sunnah" by Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Phillips.

We must be aware that most of the things out there on internet regarding the issue is mixed up with lies, fabrication of Hadiths, fortune tellings etc etc. The above book will inshaAllah help a lot for those who are willing to get a clear understanding of the issue.

Please be sure my sister, that we do not get help from Jinns to do something which is made possible by Allah. We do not need Jinns. That is something done by fortune tellers, and if we believe what they say and practice it, that is a Kufr. May Allah prevent us.

Mate I have no Idea about it too. What did your Husband see at church? Am sure the church is standing intact, and people going about business as usual. Empty your mind, don't feel too threatened, its a peaceful world most of the times. :)

First post dream interpretation of church burning. Relax mates, the person aymanusman (male name) has not reported what husband saw, at church!!!

Now the general perils of dream interpretation, or seeking meaning from Scholar. Humans with dream interpretation abilities are far and few, Its best to avoid it, there is a good reason for it, and below are the thoughts... :
Firstly a dream often is a manifestation of one's thoughts, fears, prejudiced cloaked in most obscure manner, Its rarely a prophecy of future. Most agree to it. Yet the human mind and psnche, always wants an insight of future, an explanation to hold on to. and this weakness is motive behind many wanting their dreams interpreted, most often.

Lets say two well known interpreters to whom one shared his/her dreams, interprets your dream differently [yes most interpret it differently].
Now interpretations is flawed you know it. So there are two interpretations . But since mind desired an explanation, there is a good possibility that of all the various interpretations, the mind will chose one of these, or go ahead and believe in an explanation, that's a mixture of the two interpretation.

Based on mindset its highly likely that one will end up sticking to this explanation and see every future incident with these explanation in mind. The explanation was flawed. So the reaction to the incidents that will happen will be biased by the flawed interpretation.

But its best to leave ones intuition and sense of Good / Bad be the basis of reactions to incidents rather than flawed explanation/interpretation to dreams. This is a wiser thing to do , than to seek explanations to every dream one sees.

I had a dream a non muslim friend of mine offered me a sandwich with contained the meat of pig, however i refused the sandwich because of its haram content and told my friend that i cannot eat pig meat which is harram to me because of my faith.

Any idea of the meaning if there is one?

hayat84

I'm not what you believe
it means your firmness.you believe in your faith and you are firm in your idea, you don't give the chance to make you be persuaded by anything.the meat in general is the desire(passion,kisses...).somebody offered you an occasion but you prefered not to accept it at the moment.:wasalam:

Assalaam walaikum,

I was hesitant to post but I do not think this is of any use.

Even in the clinical field there is much work the therapist has to do with themselves before they even try to interpret dreams. This includes going through psychotherapy. This process is not a short term endeavor.

Culture plays a large part. It is in the context of cultural norms that we assess what gives us values. Before one can even attempt to analysis a dream there has to be a relationship with the client. Trust is at issue.

We are discussing very intimate and fragile constructs. Misinterpretation can often backfire and lead to severe and serious consequences.

A dream is retold by an individual. The trained therapist has to ask key questions. This is an active process that the therapist is guiding. Usually in therapy it takes several sessions to months before the client can even open up.

To give interpretations on a public forum does not take into account what the core values of the individual are. What are the mores of his culture; what are sources of conflict within that individual.

The psyche is private but very fragile.

I pray I have not offend anyone; but this should be limited to either scholars for the Believers or therapists, who have undergone psychoanalysis, for clients seeking enlightenment.

I'm not a therapist neither a scholar, but if nobody of the moderators forbide me to give an interpretation of mine, even if it's for a joke,I don't see why we should leave the dreams to somebody else.if there are paople who ask here maybe there was something true and helpful for them
