  • It's better to stick to tafsir ibn katheer as those who lived while the prophet of Allah was amongst them would know the book of Allah better than any one else. And study tafheen for additonal info.

He followed the hanafi madhab strictly, we now know that we can leave some of imaam abu haneefa's fatwa's because authentic hadith are available which run counter to his fatwas.

Please don't take it as if I'm judging him or something, I understand that it's not my job and Allah alone has the right to do so. I'm not baised against him, his literature or jamat. I have great respect for him. A personality who has spent more than 20 years in prison for doing dawah demands respect. Especially because who follow him are good people and they listen to you when you point them out for correction. Infact I've seen most of them turning the "salafi way". All I'm saying where One should benefit from his (or anyone's for that matter) work but be aware of his flaws/problems in his work/ideas etc .
While in a hadith the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “He who goes to a fortune-teller to ask him about something, his Prayer will not be accepted for forty days.” (Reported by Muslim)
same atittude is found in certain acts of worship that are bidaah and things that may be regarded as shirk.

Secondly, He neglected his family while reforming the world. Apart from one of his daughters, most of his kids are 180 degree opposite to what their father was like. I've seen this trait common in his students.

Thirdly, a lot of people have issue with his tafseer. Where it contains tons of valuable information, it's got some problems e.g Maulana believes homosexuals should be punished by death whilst I studied some fatawas on TTI, which said the punishment is 80 lashes (I can get that for you if you are interested).

    continued. . .
Just as I thought. I haven't studied enough of his literature to tell you how much discrepancy is there to be discovered. I gave up on it when I was warned against it. Perhaps not very wise, but I just wanted an excuse I suppose. I don't really enjoy reading urdu.

I know those who've learned from his literature and they are some of the best muslims I've met. They may have some wrong ideas but they are always open to corrections. Maulanas dawah material (as far as I've read) is excellent as you've said. However having discussed stuff with the jamat members and known him from them I think there are things you need to know while benefitting from his literature:

jazak Allahu khyir for clarifying akhi..

as a born muslim even i struggle with the arabic phrases, i have to admit. Hope we can learn them all insha Allah, soon.
    assalaamu alaykkum wa rahmathullah

dear brother, jazak Allahu khyir for sharing what you've experienced in your masjid..

though i need to mention this, the word that really caught my attention is "salafism". By Allah i understand what you intend to portray by using that word. but a small phrase like "upon the way of salaf assalih" can be used instead of that word, so that it would avoid any sort of confusion/argument. Hope it goes down in the correct note, insha Allah.

    Love.
    assalaamu alaykkum
    :salam2:

Thank you for reading my post
    brother.

The Prophet Muhammad s.a.w (peace be upon him) said on the authority
of Abu Huraira: "Use this black seed regularly,
because it has a cure for every disease except death.”
    (Reported by Bukhari.)

Habbatus Sauda or Black seed is Nigella sativa or many other name.
