Why do so many Muslims smoke?

Why do so many Muslims smoke?

Why do so many Muslims smoke
Is it due to a loss of hope
Or a purely ugly show
Of people trying to get along with the flow

Why are so many Muslims still lighting
When the rest of the world is quitting
We really need to know the reasons
So we can reduce the pollution of our cities

Here in Riyadh its really bad
If you get fresh air for an hour you're a lucky lad
Non-smokers here should know what I mean
The smokers over here are really mean

They smoke everywhere, they don't care
Wherever you go to they are there
Indoors or outdoors, it’s the same
Its like they're all competing for fame

The Mosque gives me refuge
Its air is fresh for all to use
My lungs expand with much joy
The air's so good, o boy!

Now the Mosque's full of worshippers
And its time to line up for prayer
Gosh! Wish I could switch lines
Can't breath, can't concentrate on my prayer

I struggle to complete the prayer
I'm worn out after the salam
I must say this doesn't happen all the time
Most times I can enjoy my prayer

As I move closer to the fan
I really wish I could tell this brother
That like the whispering Shaitan
He too steals from a person's prayer

Why smoke before coming for prayer
Wish someone will give me an answer
I'm sorry if I'm being fussy
Praying beside a smoker just isn't easy

This is not an insult to you, O smoker
I'm only trying to make you ponder
If what you're doing is beneficial
Or simply harmful and detrimental

How can we remove this menace
From an Ummah that has forgotten its place
We should be steering the world away from evil
Not taking its evil to the next level

Oops! Can't write anymore
A 'chimney' has just walked through the door………….

Very nice indeed. It saddens me when I see brothers/sisters after breaking fast running outside the tents to have a smoke.

Ooooooooooooops! I'm really sorry, didn't know. There should be a way of distinguishing between brothers and sisters on this site. By the way, whats it like living in Syria? I'm thinking of where in the Arab world to go to next after living in Saudi arabia for sometime.

Salam,
Your brother in Islam.

Smoking is a very hard habit to break, mashallah!!(I dont smoke!!)It really is a bad habit for everyone around you. If you can stop during Ramadan for a few hours, you can stop completely. Allahu Alim!! Jazakallahu Khairan!!

Asalaamalikum,

Smoking is suicide in the indirect form. You are just killing yourself slowly over time. America has plenty of suiciders!

Salam if you go to user profile you can see the members details ie if they are male or female ect. But no worries. I don't live in Syria yet, not until Sept 30th inshAllah, I'm actually just going for a visit, a long visit but I'm not moving there. From speaking to my inlaws Syria is a neat place with lots of culture, the only draw back is, the city has grown by almost 2 million people in the past few years due to the influx of Iraqi immigrants and the Government can't keep up with all the people, so there is a lack of jobs and power failures every few days.
:wasalam:

Assalam alaikum,

Thanks for the information. Haven't tried the user profile thing yet.Guess i should stay away from Syria for now.
