"Do Not Worry
25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life [e]?
28 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. "
Although I agree that it is certainly better and perfectly sufficient to refer soley to Islamic sources such as Qu'ran and Hadith, because they represent the final and perfected revelation regarding the religion of God in truth protected from coruption, and are much more trustworthy sources than what you will find in the compilation of the Bible. It is also important for believers to recognize those sound teachings or principles that are consistent and repeated messages. The story Diane posted is one such example.
The prophet Muhammad, salla aleyhi wa salaam, relayed an equivalent sentiment when he said, "If you really trusted in in God as God should be trusted, God would sustain you as God sustains the birds - they go out in the morning hungry, and come back in the evening full." and also "Praise is to Allah Who has clothed me with this (garment) and provided it for me, though I was powerless myself and incapable" [Bukhari] Essentially the same exact message, so one needs to be careful about completely dismissing something that has been related in the Bible as false. As it happens, there are some parts that have retained the essential truth of the revelation, and others that have been altered. With the aid of Qu'ran and Hadith we are able to better recognize where the differences and inconsistencies lie.
We are exhorted in the Qu'ran to call people to recognize the similarities between the message revealed to Muhammad and those revealed to other prophets and co-believers in God.
[29.46] And do not dispute with the followers of the Book except by what is best, except those of them who act unjustly, and say: We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you, and our God and your God is One, and to Him do we submit.
[3.64] Say: O followers of the Book! come to an equitable proposition between us and you that we shall not serve any but Allah and (that) we shall not associate aught with Him, and (that) some of us shall not take others for lords besides Allah; but if they turn back, then say: Bear witness that we are Muslims.
It troubles me to see the divisions of religions, with very little recognition that GOD is ONE, and that at the base we are all essentially talking about the same thing. The God of the Jews is the same as the God of the Christians is the same as the God of the American Indians and so on . . . is the same as the God of the Muslims. There is only ONE GOD. La illaha ila Allah.
[112.1] Say: He, Allah, is One.
[112.2] Allah is He on Whom all depend.
[112.3] He begets not, nor is He begotten.
[112.4] And none is like Him.
[11.56] Surely I rely on Allah, my Lord and your Lord; there is no living creature but He holds it by its forelock; surely my Lord is on the right path.
