I'm just trying to find what translations (OF THE MEANING OF THE QURAN) people use and if i missed any.

1 - Picthal, Yusuf Ali and Shaikr translations.

There is Muhammad Muhsin Khan and Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din Al-Hilali, which i think is the best one.

I hope I can understand the meaning of the Qur'an directly from it's origin language (arabic), not only from it's translations, which (maybe) have many misstranslation/interpretation possibities.

Yes your right, the real Quran is in arabic and the best way to understand it is in its original language, Im trying to see all the translations in English and read them to check where they differ in expressing certain verses in the Quran.

However the ultimate goal is reading and understanding it in Arabic.

I've read a few of the translations and my personal favorite is Shakir. It doesn't seem to be as popular as Yusuf Ali though. There is also a new translation I own by M.A.S. Abdel Haleem, Muslim Oxford Professor. It's a very very good version if you want to only know the meaning, it speaks in simple language that anyone can understand. But it leaves out some of the emotional depth that the others have.

This website is great because it has 15 different translations side by side + the extremely literal translation.

Thanks for the site Abel213 - thats very helpful - it even tells you how devaint some of the people who wrote them are like Khalifa.
