If you take a shower before prayer time I read you have to leave no part of your body dry...is this including your hair?

:salam2:

Are you talking about showering regularly before prayer?..or showering to remove a major impurity before prayer?..or are you asking about ritual cleansing before daily prayers?

You need to specify your question just a bit sister

taking "A" shower before, if you are pointing to a normal shower which we take before prayer, then the answer is no.we can take bath without water touching our head.ie;use shower cap,but if your hair has any impurity(najis) then you need to wash it off.
In case of ritual cleansing(ghusl),yes ,you need.because it is narrated from aisha(RA) that the prophet saw did this, and we have to make sure the water reeches the root beds of hair and wash.here is tha authentication.

It is reported on the authority of A'ishah (May Allah be pleased with her) who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when performing ghusl from janaba used to wash his hands, then wash his private parts with his left hand. After that he performed wudu like that for prayer. Next he took some water and ran his fingers in the roots of his hair until he used three handfuls of water on his head. He would then go on pouring water on the rest of his body and wash his legs. (It was reported by Muslim #479.) In the narration of Al-Bukhari it states that he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then turned aside and washed his legs.

When should you take ghusl?
Ghusl (complete bath) becomes obligatory in the following conditions:

a) When Al-Mani (fluid) is discharged owing to stimulation (whether actual or
imagined) while asleep or awake.
b) When a wet dream occurs.
c) When an actual intercourse takes place (even if no discharge occurs).
d) When the private parts meet (even if no discharge occurs).
e) When a woman comes out of her regular menstrual cycle.
f) When the normal flow of blood ceases from the womb after giving birth.
