Salam alaikum.

I've really wanted to know this for a long time, what language did the prophets prior to Muhammed(SAW) speak? I know there was two Arabic speaking prophets ( or so I heard ) , but my theory is most could have spoken Hebrew, it fits well, and it's close language to Arabic. Anyone know for sure?

Salam.

Salam.

Actually four of the Prophets were Arabic-speakers, not two. They were Hadrat Hud, Salih, Shu'ayb and RasulAllah SAW.

not really.i think the earlier bani israel prophets such as Daud a.s & Sulaiman a.s speak hebrew.Musa a.s i'm not sure because he was born in Eqypt & his fullname was ra mousha & its not in hebrew but in ancient egyptian language meaning 'is given child' probably his mother tounge was ancient egyptian.prophet Isa a.s & yahya a.s mother tounge were aramic because at that time people in palestine no longer speak hebrew they.i think prophet ibrahim a.s also speaks in aramic.

All the prophets (pbut) spoke various
Semite languages.

Hebrew, Aramaic, Syriac, Arabic.

They are all various forms of the same
Group of languages which come
From the original language of Adam.

its a bit like how Italian, French,
Spanish & Portugese come from Latin.

That's why Jews use the Hebrew
(Shalom aleychem)
Early Christians used the Aramaic
(Shlama alekhun)
Muslims use the Arabic
(As salaam alaikum)
Maltese Catholics still use
(Sliem halikhom)

The earliest known examples of
Semitic language in written form
Is the Sumerian clay tablets from
Mesopotamia (iraq) dated 3000 bc.
The languages of the ancient
Sumerians(Iraq), Babylonians(Iraq),
Assyrians(Syria/Iraq),
Phoenicians(Lebanon) were early
Semitic languages related to
Hebrew & Aramaic.
The language used by Egyptians at
The time of Moses was also semitic
As was the language of Abyssinia(Sudan/Ethiopia)
