All newly converted sisters and brothers and insyaAllah this will be ur first Eid.So perhaps u dont know about the zakat fitr.Each and every muslim-young/old/rich/poor must pay zakat fitr before the Eid fitr prayer.
it is USD 2
but i dont know about ur country.plz go to the mosque and pay or u also can give rice/dates for the same amount of money to poor people.

do it as soon as possible because there is only few days left for Eid insyaAllah.

if u have kids who is muslim u must pay for ur kids as well.

well the poor must pay the zakat fitr as well then later on they will be given the zakat to them.zakat fitr is obligotry to all muslims no matter who they are.

those days zakat was given in the form of rice/wheat/barley/corn and so on which is the form food.even poor people do hv food n easy for them to give zakat.after that they can claim back the zakat.there are 2 types of zakat-one is the zakat fitr which is USD2 and it depends on ur won country and another zakat is the property zakat.the obligatory zakat on poor people as well is the zakat fitr coz the prophet said those fast in ramadan must pay zakat fitr before the eid prayer.if he pays the zakat after the eid prayer is just consider as charity.

It is fixed at $10 here in Texas, USA. I am guessing that it would be the same elsewhere in the United States.

In most mosques here, they have boxes where you can pay Zakatul Fitr and the amount is mentioned.

wow USD10?that is too much...one of the sis in USA said it is only USD2 and i guess so it is USD2...and in Egypt it is only LE4 and in malaysia is around RM6 i believe.It cannot be USD10 coz the minimun amount of zakat is equal to what the prophet used to give which is approximately to the volume of 5 lb of good wheat.BUT Uusually the rich peole tend to give gmore than USD2.but for the poor people,it is enough by giving food or money in the value of USD2.

The article u gave as proof to prove poor must pay zakat does not even include the poor must pay. Zakat is only due from those who are able to pay. The whole POINT of zakat is for the poor and needy... If ALL must pay zakat who will take it??

zakat is 3rd pillar of islam.Allah didnt say that a poor muslim do not pay zakat fitr.

The proof that this form of charity is compulsory can be found in the Sunnah whereby Ibn `Umar reported that the Prophet (upon whom be God's peace and blessings), made Zakat al-Fitr compulsory on every slave, freeman, male, female, young and old among the Muslims; one Saa` of dried dates or one Saa` of barely. [Sahih Bukhari - Arabic/English, vol. 2, p. 339, no. 579]

if the needy can't pay zakat fitr,someone must pay on behalf of him.it is wajib on every human call Muslims.ask ur nearby mosque about this.usually zakat is given to those deserve to receive before the eid,so they can pay zakat from this food or money they receive.

It is not compulsory for everyone but only to a person who can afford an extra Sa'ah after his family's regular use for a day he is bound to pay Fitr Zakat.
