new very old brother

Assalamu Alaikum,
I am 78 years old and my family have always been nominal Christians as I was. A couple of months ago I had the pleasure of meeting a Muslim brother in a professional capacity. he was my opthalmist. I mentioned I had been reading about Islam because I was not convinced that the media reports told the whole truth. I read a great deal on line and as a result I said Shahada to a brother on the telephone. I live in a small village in the far west country of UK I am alone in my faith although I have a large family I am not yet strong enough to tell them I am a Muslim.
Each day I read my Qur'an and I pray five times as near the correct times as I can. I have never been as happy and as convinced of the true God Allah the ever Merciful and Forgiving Lord.
My only Muslim friend directed me to this site and it is here I hope to learn more about my faith.

I have just said Shahada 2 months back and I am slowly finding my way to doing all that is rightful. I have bought my own Qur'an and I study it hard.
I am 78 years old and I head a large family of nominal Christians. None of whom I have told that my religion is Islam because they tend to believe the terrorist stories and ignore the truth about our religion which is sad.
My greatest concern at the moment is that I seem unable to learn The Opening and have to read it five times each day. if I cannot recite it in English how will I be able to learn these Holy words in Arabic which I long to do? Allah the Most Merciful and Most Forgiving will not cast me down I am sure, but I ask in Dua that he forgives me for my stupidity

First and foremost, please allow me to welcome you to the TTI family.

There is a wonderful concept: technology. Youtube it, I know somewhere on TTI there must be a video tutorial of Sura Fathia, just do a search and something will pop up.

Own the words in English first. And the Arabic will flow. When you make dua to Allah subhana wa taala please include me and ask Him to forgive my stupidity as well.

You have an international family here to help you and please remember you are valuable here with your wisdom; it takes a wise man to reach out for help. It is not the age of a person that is important it is the youth of the soul seeking correct.

example if you have difficulties to memorize the honorable surahs
for instance;
Just visit :You Tube look for those amazing surahs
you require to learn.

Like now you need suratul Al fatihah
go search YouTube.com
find surah Al fatihah
and you need to listen several to log it in you memory
it very
simple.
Or you can get mp3 it to your cellphone
and turn it on to learn it at anytime
insya'allah
in no time you will master it.

My suggestion:
Please visit the nearest mosque near where you are staying
And
get in touch with the muslims council in your country for futher
assistance.
