“The innovation is more beloved to Iblees than disobedience (to Allah), because forgiveness is sought from disobedience and it is not sought from innovation.”

" One should be just toward his enemies and those whom he dislikes. His hatred should not cause him to be unjust to them, just as his love for himself and his kin should not prevent him from establishing justice against them. This hatred should not make him do wrong, just as that love should not stop him from doing right. "

~ Ibn Qayyim Al Jawziyyah

" Sorrow is Sweet

The divine decree related to the believer is always a bounty, even if it is in the form of withholding (something that is desired), and it is a blessing, even if it appears to be a trial, and an affliction that has befallen him is in reality a cure, even though it appears to be a disease!

Unfortunately, due to the ignorance of the worshipper, and his transgressions, he does not consider anything to be a gift or a blessing or a cure unless he can enjoy it immediately, and it is in accordance with his nature. If he were only given a little bit of understanding, then he would have counted being withheld from as a blessing, and the sickness as a mercy, and he would relish the trouble that befalls him more than he relishes his ease, and he would enjoy poverty more than he enjoys richness, and he would be more thankful when he is blessed with little than when he is blessed with a lot."

~ Ibn al Qayyim rahimahullah– Madarij al-Salikin 2/215-216

An-Nu’maan ibn Al-Basheer said: “He who does not thank Allah for small favours, will not thank Him for great ones; and he who does not express gratitude to people (for doing him favours) will not express gratitude towards Allah. Appreciating and mentioning the favours bestowed upon one from Allah is gratitude, and not doing so expresses ingratitude” [Ahmad].

Therefore, Each night after your last prayer make a list of 5 things you’re grateful to Allah Subhanahu wa Taala for. Just by being consciously grateful to Allah for at least five things every day, not only do you become more optimistic and satisfied with your life overall, but you will also sleep better and feel less depressed.

Nice thread.

It is reported that ‘Alī b. Abī Tālib – Allāh be pleased with him – said:

Mention what you will of the greatness of Allāh, but Allāh is greater than anything you say. And mention what you will of the Fire, but it is more severe than anything you say. And mention what you will of Paradise, but it is better than anything you say.

Abū Bakr Al-Daynūrī, Al-Mujālasah wa Jawāhir Al-’Ilm article 853.
