Reading Soorat al-Kahf on Fridays

Is reading Soorat al-Kahf on Friday or the night before a recommended action?.

Praise be to Allaah.

There are marfoo’ ahaadeeth concerning that which support one another and indicate that it is prescribed to read Soorat al-Kahf on Friday.

That was proven to be narrated from Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri and the isnaads stop with him. In an issue like this, it cannot be deemed to be his personal opinion; rather he must have learned it from the Prophet (blessing s and peace of Allaah be upon him). End quote.

Majmoo’ Fataawa Ibn Baaz (25/196).

Assalamu aleykum brothers and sisters.

Sahih International: O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.

Seeking Allah's Mercy

Qul HuwaAllahu Ahud!
Asalamo`Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuh,

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on the day of Jumu’ah, a light will shine for him from beneath his feet to the clouds of the sky, which will shine for him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be forgiven (his sins) between the two Fridays.’” Al-Mundhiri said, this was narrated by Abu Bakr ibn Mardawayh in his Tafseer, with an isnaad with which there was nothing wrong.

I have an idea. Lets share khutba notes tomorrow in sha Allah.

All those who are going to attend friday prayer please listen carefully to the khutbah, and write a brief summary about what your khateeb talked about here. It will be interesting to read the answers and compare them!

Qul HuwaAllahu Ahud!
Asalamo`Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa barakaatuh,

It's the first friday of Ramadhan Alhumdulillah!

“Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on the day of Jumu’ah, will have a light that will shine from him from one Friday to the next.”(Narrated by al-Haakim, 2/399; al-Bayhaqi, 3/249. Ibn Hajar said in Takhreej al-Adhkaar that this is a hasan hadeeth, and he said, this is the strongest report that has been narrated concerning reading Soorat al-Kahf. See: Fayd al-Qadeer, 6/198. It was classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 6470)
