This part means: His “Kursi” extends over the heavens and the earth. As this verse mentions the word “Kursi” hence it has to be explained with caution so that it is clear that Allah’s dominion is understood without any comparison to creation.
Imam Ibn Kathir (rah) has narrated from Ibn Abbas (ra) that Kursi refers to “KNOWLEDGE” he has also narrated a Mawquf hadith from same Ibn Abbas (ra) that Kursi refers to footstool [Note: The Salafi published Tafsir Ibn Kathir has done serious forgeries in their version of Tafsir, even over here they completely removed the hadith in which Kursi is called as “KNOWLEDGE” they did this so that people can only consider Kursi as a footstool]

WHY WAS AYATUL KURSI REVEALED?

Just before the revelation of Ayatul Kursi, the polytheists had come to rely on the idols they made and expected all from them. Even though they said that they believed in Allah, these people started to associate their own idols with Allah, to worship them, and to expect intercession from them. From time to time they even came to deny Allah. For this reason, although many verses that were revealed before Ayatul Kursi described the existence and unity of Allah,
Aytul kursi was revealed to gather what is explained in all these other verses and to explain Allah’s power once again. That is why the verse in which the name and attribute of Allah are mentioned most is the Ayatul Kursi.

How Ayatul Kursi was revealed

When the Ayat-al Kursi was revealed, all the handmade idols that people believed in place of Allah and the kings who put themselves in place of Allah fell off their places. As they fell, the kings’ crowns rolled on the ground, and they were all burdened with trouble. Again, according to another rumor, Iblis, feared, said to his people, “Tonight a big incident happened. You guys stay in your places; I’ll travel around the world and find out what happened. “
The devil traveled around the world and went to Madinah. “What happened last night?” he asked a man there.
And the man said: “The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: A verse from the treasures of the Throne was revealed and all the idols in the world crashed to the floor.”

18- Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
Who recites the first 4 ayats of Surah Baqarah?
Then Ayatul Kursi and then the last 3 ayahs of Surah e Baqarah,
Will not be inflicted with any kind of difficulty in his wealth or himself,
The evil will not come near him and he will not forget the Qur’an.
19- Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: Qur’an is a great word,
And Sura Baqarah is the leader of the Qur’an
And Aytul kursi is the leader of Surah Baqarah.
In Ayat ul Kursi there are 50 words and for each word, there are 50 blessings and good in it.

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:
“Abu Mundhir! Do you know which Ayah in Allah’s Book is the greatest?
I said: ‘Allah and His messenger know best.’
He (PBUH) again said: ‘Do you know which Ayah in Allah’s Book,
According to you, which is the greatest?’
I (Abu Mundhir) replied: ‘It is ‘Allah la ilaha illa Huwal Hayyul Qayum’. [2:255].
Thereupon he (peace be upon him) patted me in the chest and said,
‘Rejoice by your knowledge, O Abu Mundhir!
(i.e., may this knowledge be a source of respect, honor, and benefit to you)’.”
[Muslim]
2-Asma’ bint Yazid (RadiAllahu anhu) reported,
‘I heard the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: about these two following Ayahs,
i.e., verses: “Allah! There is no god but He – the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. [2:255], and,
Alif Lam Mim, Allah! There is no god but He – The Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal [3:1-2], that contains Allah’s Greatest Name.”

3-Abu Umaamah Al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“The one who recites it after each of the obligatory prayers,
Then death will be the only thing preventing him from entering Paradise.” [Ibn Sunni, Ibn Hibban]
4-Abu Dhar said; O Messenger of Allah,
What is the greatest thing that has been revealed to you?
’ He said, Ayat al-Kursi, ‘Allah! La ilaha illa Huwa’.
When you lie down in your bed,
Recite ayat al-Kursi, Allah! La ilaha ILLA Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He),
The ever-living and the One Who sustains and protect all that exists… [Al-Baqarah 2:255]
Until the end of the ayah, then you will have a protector from Allah
And no Shaitan (devil) will come near you until morning comes
[Sahih al-Bukhari]
5- Abu Hurairah (RadiAllahu anhu) narrated;
In Surah al-Baqarah there is an ayah which is the best of all the ayahs of al quran.
It is never recited in a house but the Shaitan leaves Ayat-al Kursi.
Everything has its pinnacle and the pinnacle of the Qur’an is Surah al-Baqarah.
In it, there is an ayah, which is one of the greatest in the Qur’an: Ayat-al Kursi
Do you know Ayat ul Kursi?” Anas (RadiAllahu anhu) replied, “I know”.
The Prophet (PBUH) said, “It is equal to a quarter of the Qur’an
6- In a narration of Rasul Allah, peace be upon him, it says:
“In the Bakara Surah there is a verse that is leading among the verses of al quran … If this is read in a house and there is a devil in the house, he will definitely go out. This verse is the Ayat-al Kursi, the throne verse! ”
7- Again the Rasul of Allah used to say, peace be upon him:
“Everything has a climax … The climax of the sublime al Quran is the surah baqarah … In the Bakara Surah, there is a verse that is the most sublime verse among the Koran verses … That is Ayat-al Kursi! “
One day the Rasul of Allah asked peace be upon him, Abu Munzir, who was with him:
“Do you know which verse in Allah’s Book that is with you is the greatest?
He answered:
“Allahu lâ illâha illâ huwal hayyul kayyum …”
To this the Rasul of Allah replied:
“Abu Munzir- may your knowledge bring you a blessing …!”

“Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Alive, the Eternal.” – This statement means that there is no god but Allah, and He is the Supreme Lord of all creations. Also, there is absolutely nothing worth worshipping, except Him. The Alive, the Eternal means that Allah is Self-Existing and that He is Ever-Living and Everlasting, Who never dies, Who sustains everyone and everything. Nothing can exist without His Order and Will.
“Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him.” – Allah is above and beyond all states of drowsiness or sleep. He is Supreme and is Aware of what every soul earns. Among His perfect attributes is the fact that He is never affected by slumber or sleep. His power is Absolutely Perfect.
“Unto Him belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth.” – This indicates that everyone is a servant of Allah, under His Power and Authority. Everything on earth or in the heavens is owned by Allah. He is the Ultimate Authority.
“Who is he that intercedes with Him except by His leave?” – Nobody can intercede in His Presence except by His permission on the Day of Judgment. Allah has explained that no intercession will work in His Court except which He permits.
“He knows that which is in front of them and that which is behind them.” This refers to His Perfect Knowledge of all creation; including the past, present and future. This is proof of Allah’s Knowledge that encompasses all the worlds.
“While they encompass nothing of His Knowledge except what He will.” – No one attains any knowledge except that which Allah allows. All-Encompassing Knowledge of every particle in the universe is a unique attribute of none but Allah.
“His throne includes the heavens and the earth.” – Kursi represents the Throne of Allah. This magnificent verse explains Allah’s Existence, Sovereignty, Power, and Knowledge that extends over the heavens and the earth.
“And He is never weary of preserving them.” – Allah has no trouble in preserving and managing whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and those who are in the Dominion of Allah.
“He is the Sublime, the Tremendous.” – Allah is the Most Exalted and the Greatest. He is the Highest, the Greatest. There is no deity worthy of worship except Him, and no lord other than Him.

1- Because Ayatul Kursi contains very deep meanings and especially emphasizes the concept of oneness, that is, the unity of Allah, that there is no creator other than him.
2- Ayat ul kursi describes the power and magnificence of Allah Almighty to us.
3- Ayatul Kursi contains the names of Allah in more than any other verse. The names of Allah are also mentioned in other verses, but this number is sometimes two, sometimes five, sometimes ten.
4- However, the name of Allah is mentioned 17 times in Ayat-al Kursi.
5- The Attributes of Allah 6 times Almighty can be found in the Ayatul Kursi. The only verse in al Quran that contains 6 attributes at once is the Ayatul Kursi.
These attributes are Life, Knowledge, Power, Will, Oneness, and Originating.
6- The magnificence and the special status of this verse Make the chapter occur especially too Because the topic is about Almighty Allah (SWT) unity as well as Almighty Allah (SWT) nature and attributes. It should remind us of the sheer insignificant standing we have in comparison to Him And how this alerts us to the unjustified character of our haughtiness, Arrogance, and pride in making ourselves the standard in all things whereas only He has the right to set standards. Through Islam, you are going to have a much better understanding of Almighty Allah (SWT). You will be capable of identifying Him as well as His role in your life. Aside from that, you will also be capable of communicating with Him any time you choose. Islam also assists an individual to know their roots as well as the reason why they are on earth. This is because it provides great answers to different philosophical questions. ‘I heard the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: about these two following Ayahs,

Alif Lam Mim, Allah! There is no god but He – The Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal [3:1-2], that contains Allah’s Greatest Name.”

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“The one who recites it after each of the obligatory prayers,

4-Abu Dhar said; O Messenger of Allah,
What is the greatest thing that has been revealed to you?
’ He said, Ayat al-Kursi, ‘Allah! La ilaha illa Huwa’.
When you lie down in your bed,
Recite ayat al-Kursi, Allah! La ilaha ILLA Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He),
The ever-living and the One Who sustains and protect all that exists… [Al-Baqarah 2:255]
Until the end of the ayah, then you will have a protector from Allah
And no Shaitan (devil) will come near you until morning comes

“Who is he that intercedes with Him except by His leave?” – Nobody can intercede in His Presence except by His permission on the Day of Judgment. Allah has explained that no intercession will work in His Court except which He permits.
“He knows that which is in front of them and that which is behind them.” This refers to His Perfect Knowledge of all creation; including the past, present and future. This is proof of Allah’s Knowledge that encompasses all the worlds.
“While they encompass nothing of His Knowledge except what He will.” – No one attains any knowledge except that which Allah allows. All-Encompassing Knowledge of every particle in the universe is a unique attribute of none but Allah.
“His throne includes the heavens and the earth.” – Kursi represents the Throne of Allah. This magnificent verse explains Allah’s Existence, Sovereignty, Power, and Knowledge that extends over the heavens and the earth.
“And He is never weary of preserving them.” – Allah has no trouble in preserving and managing whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and those who are in the Dominion of Allah.
“He is the Sublime, the Tremendous.” – Allah is the Most Exalted and the Greatest. He is the Highest, the Greatest. There is no deity worthy of worship except Him, and no lord other than Him.

“He knows that which is in front of them and that which is behind them.” This refers to His Perfect Knowledge of all creation; including the past, present and future. This is proof of Allah’s Knowledge that encompasses all the worlds.

Thereupon he (peace be upon him) patted me in the chest and said,
‘Rejoice by your knowledge, O Abu Mundhir!
(i.e., may this knowledge be a source of respect, honor, and benefit to you)’.”

2-Asma’ bint Yazid (RadiAllahu anhu) reported,
‘I heard the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: about these two following Ayahs,
i.e., verses: “Allah! There is no god but He – the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. [2:255], and,
Alif Lam Mim, Allah! There is no god but He – The Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal [3:1-2], that contains Allah’s Greatest Name.”

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“The one who recites it after each of the obligatory prayers,

4-Abu Dhar said; O Messenger of Allah,
What is the greatest thing that has been revealed to you?
’ He said, Ayat al-Kursi, ‘Allah! La ilaha illa Huwa’.
When you lie down in your bed,
Recite ayat al-Kursi, Allah! La ilaha ILLA Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He),
The ever-living and the One Who sustains and protect all that exists… [Al-Baqarah 2:255]
Until the end of the ayah, then you will have a protector from Allah
And no Shaitan (devil) will come near you until morning comes

“Who is he that intercedes with Him except by His leave?” – Nobody can intercede in His Presence except by His permission on the Day of Judgment. Allah has explained that no intercession will work in His Court except which He permits.
“He knows that which is in front of them and that which is behind them.” This refers to His Perfect Knowledge of all creation; including the past, present and future. This is proof of Allah’s Knowledge that encompasses all the worlds.
“While they encompass nothing of His Knowledge except what He will.” – No one attains any knowledge except that which Allah allows. All-Encompassing Knowledge of every particle in the universe is a unique attribute of none but Allah.
“His throne includes the heavens and the earth.” – Kursi represents the Throne of Allah. This magnificent verse explains Allah’s Existence, Sovereignty, Power, and Knowledge that extends over the heavens and the earth.
“And He is never weary of preserving them.” – Allah has no trouble in preserving and managing whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and those who are in the Dominion of Allah.
“He is the Sublime, the Tremendous.” – Allah is the Most Exalted and the Greatest. He is the Highest, the Greatest. There is no deity worthy of worship except Him, and no lord other than Him.

And Aytul kursi is the leader of Surah Baqarah.

1-Ubayy bin K`ab (RadiAllahu anhu) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:
“Abu Mundhir! Do you know which Ayah in Allah’s Book is the greatest?
I said: ‘Allah and His messenger know best.’
He (PBUH) again said: ‘Do you know which Ayah in Allah’s Book,
According to you, which is the greatest?’
I (Abu Mundhir) replied: ‘It is ‘Allah la ilaha illa Huwal Hayyul Qayum’. [2:255].
Thereupon he (peace be upon him) patted me in the chest and said,
‘Rejoice by your knowledge, O Abu Mundhir!
(i.e., may this knowledge be a source of respect, honor, and benefit to you)’.”
[Muslim]
2-Asma’ bint Yazid (RadiAllahu anhu) reported,
‘I heard the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: about these two following Ayahs,
i.e., verses: “Allah! There is no god but He – the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. [2:255], and,
Alif Lam Mim, Allah! There is no god but He – The Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal [3:1-2], that contains Allah’s Greatest Name.”
[Imam Ahmed bin Hanbali in his Musnad]
3-Abu Umaamah Al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“The one who recites it after each of the obligatory prayers,
Then death will be the only thing preventing him from entering Paradise.” [Ibn Sunni, Ibn Hibban]
4-Abu Dhar said; O Messenger of Allah,
What is the greatest thing that has been revealed to you?
’ He said, Ayat al-Kursi, ‘Allah! La ilaha illa Huwa’.
When you lie down in your bed,
Recite ayat al-Kursi, Allah! La ilaha ILLA Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He),
The ever-living and the One Who sustains and protect all that exists… [Al-Baqarah 2:255]
Until the end of the ayah, then you will have a protector from Allah
And no Shaitan (devil) will come near you until morning comes
[Sahih al-Bukhari]
5- Abu Hurairah (RadiAllahu anhu) narrated;
In Surah al-Baqarah there is an ayah which is the best of all the ayahs of al quran.
It is never recited in a house but the Shaitan leaves Ayat-al Kursi.
Everything has its pinnacle and the pinnacle of the Qur’an is Surah al-Baqarah.
In it, there is an ayah, which is one of the greatest in the Qur’an: Ayat-al Kursi
Do you know Ayat ul Kursi?” Anas (RadiAllahu anhu) replied, “I know”.
The Prophet (PBUH) said, “It is equal to a quarter of the Qur’an
6- In a narration of Rasul Allah, peace be upon him, it says:
“In the Bakara Surah there is a verse that is leading among the verses of al quran … If this is read in a house and there is a devil in the house, he will definitely go out. This verse is the Ayat-al Kursi, the throne verse! ”
7- Again the Rasul of Allah used to say, peace be upon him:
“Everything has a climax … The climax of the sublime al Quran is the surah baqarah … In the Bakara Surah, there is a verse that is the most sublime verse among the Koran verses … That is Ayat-al Kursi! “
One day the Rasul of Allah asked peace be upon him, Abu Munzir, who was with him:
“Do you know which verse in Allah’s Book that is with you is the greatest?
He answered:
“Allahu lâ illâha illâ huwal hayyul kayyum …”
To this the Rasul of Allah replied:
“Abu Munzir- may your knowledge bring you a blessing …!”

He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills.
His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not.

“Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Alive, the Eternal.” – This statement means that there is no god but Allah, and He is the Supreme Lord of all creations. Also, there is absolutely nothing worth worshipping, except Him. The Alive, the Eternal means that Allah is Self-Existing and that He is Ever-Living and Everlasting, Who never dies, Who sustains everyone and everything. Nothing can exist without His Order and Will.
“Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him.” – Allah is above and beyond all states of drowsiness or sleep. He is Supreme and is Aware of what every soul earns. Among His perfect attributes is the fact that He is never affected by slumber or sleep. His power is Absolutely Perfect.
“Unto Him belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth.” – This indicates that everyone is a servant of Allah, under His Power and Authority. Everything on earth or in the heavens is owned by Allah. He is the Ultimate Authority.
“Who is he that intercedes with Him except by His leave?” – Nobody can intercede in His Presence except by His permission on the Day of Judgment. Allah has explained that no intercession will work in His Court except which He permits.
“He knows that which is in front of them and that which is behind them.” This refers to His Perfect Knowledge of all creation; including the past, present and future. This is proof of Allah’s Knowledge that encompasses all the worlds.
“While they encompass nothing of His Knowledge except what He will.” – No one attains any knowledge except that which Allah allows. All-Encompassing Knowledge of every particle in the universe is a unique attribute of none but Allah.
“His throne includes the heavens and the earth.” – Kursi represents the Throne of Allah. This magnificent verse explains Allah’s Existence, Sovereignty, Power, and Knowledge that extends over the heavens and the earth.
“And He is never weary of preserving them.” – Allah has no trouble in preserving and managing whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and those who are in the Dominion of Allah.
“He is the Sublime, the Tremendous.” – Allah is the Most Exalted and the Greatest. He is the Highest, the Greatest. There is no deity worthy of worship except Him, and no lord other than Him.
