It depends on the center. Most often the children`s Quran classes are different than the adult`s.

May I recommend that you have a tape of an excellent reciter (Shaikh Al-Husary, Al-Minshawy, Al-Afasy, Basfar,....) to listen to over and over again. Their reciting is crisp, clear and beautiful. This way you can learn how to read with tajweed even before learning the theoretical rules. Many people would learn how to read with proper tajweed this way without really knowing it theoretically.

May Allah SWT make it easy for you.

‘Aa’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, relates that the Prophet (SAW) said:

“Verily the one who recites the Qur’an beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have TWICE that reward.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
