are there still some muslim drivers men who courship women on the street.

Some young people do not obey the traffic laws, and when they are asked why they do not, they say, this has nothing to do with the commands of Allah or the religion of Allah, so I don't have to do it! This act is utterly incorrect. It is obligatory for a Muslim to follow the traffic laws and etiquette of the road for a number of reasons, including the following:

Firstly:

Doing this helps one to protect people's lives, and life is one of the five essentials which Sharee'ah was prescribed to protect. These five essentials are: a person's life, mind, wealth, honor and religion. Ignoring traffic laws and the etiquette of the road in many cases leads to death and falling into the trap of killing a soul whom Allah has forbidden to be killed, which is a major sin.

Allah says (interpretation of the meaning); "And those who invoke not any other ilaah (god) along with Allah, nor kill such person as Allah has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse and whoever does this shall receive the punishment. The torment will be doubled to him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein in disgrace; Except those who repent" (al-Furqaan 25:68-70)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "A man will be fine with regard to his religion so long as he does not shed blood that it is forbidden to shed." (Narrated by al-Bukhari from the hadeth of Ibn 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both). Driving too fast is reckless, homicidal and suicidal, and Allah has warned the person who does such things by saying (interpretation of the meaning): "And do not kill yourselves (nor kill one another). Surely, Allah is Most Merciful to you. And whoever commits that through aggression and injustice, We shall cast him into the Fire, and that is easy for Allah." (al-Nisa' 4:29-30)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever kills himself with a piece of iron will have the piece of iron in his hand, stabbing himself in the stomach with it in the Fire of Hell, for ever and ever, never ceasing." (The hadeeth was reported in al-Saheehayn from Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him)

Secondly:

Obeying the traffic laws is part of obeying those in authority, whom Allah has commanded us to obey, as He said (interpretation of the meaning): "O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad), and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority" (al-Nisa' 4:59)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Allah likes three things for you:? if you worship Him and do not associate anything with Him;? and if you cooperate with those whom Allah has placed in authority over you?" (Agreed upon)

And he said: "Religion is sincerity." We [the Sahaabah] said: "To whom?" he said: "To Allah, and His Book, and His Messenger, and to the leaders of the Muslims and their common folk." (Narrated by Muslim)

Thirdly:

Obeying traffic laws is an attitude that is in accordance with the good attitudes that Allah has enjoined upon His believing slaves in His Book and through His Messenger. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): "And the (faithful) slaves of the Most Gracious (Allah) are those who walk on the earth in humility and sedateness" (al-Furqaan 25:63), meaning that they move in a gentle, tranquil, serene and dignified manner.

And Allah tells us that Luqman the Wise advised his son (interpretation of the meaning): "And be moderate (or show no insolence) in your walking" (Luqmaan 31:19), meaning, let your manner of walking strike a balance between walking like someone who is dying, walking in a careless manner and walking too hastily.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that removing anything harmful from the road that may injure people is one of the branches of faith, and it was said in the hadeeth that Allah admitted a man to Paradise because he removed some thorns from the road.

So what is wrong with these people who harm the Muslims on the road by cutting them off and driving with such insane speed? Many people prefer themselves to their Muslim brothers, so they jump red lights and deny others their right of way even though the other person may be even more busy and in more of a hurry. But Allah described the companions of His Prophet as (interpretation of the meaning): "and [they] give them (emigrants) preference over themselves even though they were in need of that." (al-Hashr 59:9)

So any one of them would give preference to his brother in any matter, even when he was in need of it himself. Finally, let us fear Allah in all our affairs and remember that we will be brought to account for everything we do and for what we do not do.
