Question: Are we allowed to interpret Qur'anic verses ourselves?

Do we have any authority to assume what a Qur'anic verse means if I want to apply my own interpretation scientifically? If the answer is no, who can I approach who will help me interpret this verse?

Salam wa rahmatullah wa barakatuhu,
dear brothers Allah ( glory be to Him) says that the verses He sent are explicit and CLEAR VERSES, but He also says that some are more hidden in meaning, so the best approach is to reflect upon the CLEAR verses and ask a knowledgeable man for the more complex verses, and may Allah grant us the best comprension of His Book, glory be to Him wa salam :)
