Assalaamu 'alaykum!
Mullaa Mu’eenud-Deen al-Hanafee said in Diraasaat al-Labeeb (p. 156), “Not everything which is attributed to the four Imaams and is reported in the books of their madhabs is established to be from them. Most of them – or even all of them – are from what is contrived from amongst their followers and from those who have given their opinions precedence. Whoever claims that this is narrated from Aboo Haneefah for example, or Maalik, or Shaafi’ee – then he has to authenticate the isnaad with every condition that needs to make it authentic – and I do not think except that they will be incapable of this.“
Al-khateeb said in Tareekh Baghdaad (14/135) with an isnaad to Aboo Nu’aym al-Fadl Ibn Dukayn (rahmatUllaah alayh) who said, “I heard Abu Haneefah say to Aboo Yoosuf, ‘Woe be to them! How many people lie upon me in these boks, things which I did not say!‘ “
Mullaa Mu’eenud-Deen al-Hanafee also said (p. 391), “The analogies which the Hanafee books are full of, most of them have no isnaad going back to Aboo Haneefah.“
Examples:
Some examples of fabricated opinions attributed to the four great Imaams are:
(a) Imaam shaafi’ee permitting anal intercourse! Imaam shafi’ee, regarding approaching the woman from her behind for sexual intercourse, apparently said, “There is nothing authentic from the Prophet (saw) showing its permissibility nor its impermissibility and analogy would make it permissible.“
Contradictory to this Imaam Shaafi’ee said, “I do not make it allowable! Rather I will forbid it!” [Bayhaqee 7/196]
Ibn Katheer in his tafseer (1/397) reported from Aboo Naasir Ibn Sabbaagh, that Rabee (a student of imaam Shaafi’ee) used to swear by Allaah that Ibn Haklam lied about Ash-Shaafi’ee in that.
(b) It is reported (by Muhammad Ibn’Abdullaah Ibn ‘Abdul Hakam) from Imaam Maalik, that he made mut’ah marriage permissible! However Ibn Abdul Barr in At-Tamheed (10/121) reported that Imaam Maalik ruled it to be unlawful.
And there are many more examples of such fabrications.
