A TEACHER who allegedly forced a four-year-old pupil to kiss her feet has been sacked.
The woman, who taught Arabic at Al Noor International School, was earlier suspended without salary for five days as an investigation was launched by the Education Ministry.
It was claimed she made her pupils kiss her cheeks but forced Omar to kiss her feet.
The school was issued a final warning by the ministry on Sunday for allegedly not properly investigating the matter.
"School officials told the ministry that it had completed an investigation into the allegations by creating a committee headed by a legal firm," said the ministry in a statement yesterday.
"The school also said the committee decided to sack the teacher in light of the educational violations, which were proven against her and which had harmed the reputation of the school."
The school presented its decision to the ministry which approved of the action taken, added the statement.
The decision was made following a meeting with ministry Under-Secretary Dr Abdulla Al Mutawa and school officials.
The investigation was ordered by the ministry after conflicting accounts by school officials and the child's father.
Meanwhile, around 100 people gathered outside the ministry yesterday in solidarity with the child.
"We went out to say that we are with Omar and that the teacher should be punished," said organiser Isa Mohammed.
"The country is being divided over this and we refuse this attitude.
"We want the ministry to punish the teacher and fire her."
