A nearly $22 billion development fund backed by celebrities and hailed as an alternative to the bureaucracy of the United Nations sees as much as one-third to two-thirds of some grants eaten up by corruption, The Associated Press has learned. ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates -- Bill Gates' foundation and Abu Dhabi's crown prince are donating $50 million each to vaccinate children in Afghanistan and Pakistan against polio and other diseases.

Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation say two-thirds of the funds will go toward a pair of vaccines against pneumonia, diphtheria, whooping cough and other ailments afflicting young children in Afghanistan. The rest will be given to the World Health Organization and UNICEF to provide polio vaccines in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Gates recently told The Associated Press eradicating polio is his top priority, and that he's planning to announce a major donation to the effort in Davos, Switzerland on Friday.

Very good news.

:ma:

yes thanks for reminding me, I forgot to say mashAllah in my post.

it's funny the people who are not muslim, with a lot of wealth, do far more good than some of the muslim leaders who horded the wealth of the people and collected billions and want to pass it along to their descendants.

Gates foundation is the funding agency for the development of vaccine against infectious diseases like TB, malaria, Aids, etc .
as we know these infectious prevail mostly in poor countries like africa and india and also china...so funding for the development of vaccine against these diseases is like doing something for the poor besides saving the humanity...
so this step should be taken first by the muslims rather than non muslims ...
May Allah help muslims to have peace in this world and excel in science & tech. again...aameen...

they don't really care about the poor...

:salam2:

i think everyone should watch the video in the link below and read what is in the link.

When Gates talks about decreasing world population, to reduce the amount of CO2, he says (4:40 on the video)“İf we do a really good job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that(population) by perhaps 10-15 %.”

How they acheive that goal by the means of new vaccines is your homework to study, i think.

Yes my brother you are very much true...so thats is why I wanted the muslims to come forward and fund for the development of these vaccines against diseases which mostly effect the poor population. that too without sterilization ...They wont be able to stop this as what they plan Allah knows everything and He is the best planner...
