Blessed Christmas from Palestine

Salaam sister,

I'm just trying to understand the intent of your post. Was it to inform us that there are Christian Palestinians in Palestine that celebrate Christmas or were you wishing us something?

wa alaykum salam,

You are not being judged at all, just this is a Muslim site where we care about Islam, more so than caring about any specific race.

I love Allah, the Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him).

What these people, the Christians say and do is something that Allah hates!

You said:

"Merry and Blessed Christmas!"

Respecting Christians is one thing, but, celebrating, partaking and sharing their rituals where they say God has a Son, that Jesus is God is a sin.

Surely, they have disbelieved who say: "Allah is the Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary)." But the Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)] said: "O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode[]. Surah: Al-Nisa (4) Aayat: 150

I will leave this thread open, so people can see what the Palestinian Christians do. Nothing wrong with that. Do we share in this "joy", no, because there is no joy in it.

Its a celebration of their ignorance.

Some Facts:
  • Only 15 per cent of people in the United States realise that it is a Palestinian city with a mixed Christian-Muslim community, lying in the occupied West Bank territory.
  • In a 2006 poll of Christians in Bethlehem by the Palestinian Centre for Research and Cultural Dialogue, 90% reported having Muslim friends, 73.3% agreed that the Palestinian Authority treats Christian heritage in the city with respect and 78% attributed the ongoing exodus of Christians from Bethlehem to the Israeli travel restriction on the area.
  • While the Christians of Bethlehem overwhelmingly (78%) blame the exodus of Christians from the town on Israel's blockade, Americans are more likely (45.9%) to blame it on Islamic politics and are reluctant (7.4%) to blame Israel.
  • And while four out of ten Americans believe that the wall exists for Israel's security, more than nine out of ten Bethlehemites believe it is part of a plan by Israel to confiscate Palestinian land.
  • While the US survey showed that Americans are sceptical about Muslims and Christians living contentedly alongside each other - only 17% thought they lived together in peaceful coexistence ?- the Palestinian survey showed they do: around 90% of Christians said they had Muslim friends, and vice-versa.
Americans not sure where Bethlehem is, survey shows

Salaam,

With due respect my brothers and sisters let us remember Sister Harb works diligently to increase our knowledge of the state of affairs. We know the plight of the peoples of Palestine.
Let us support our dear sister and her efforts. We Muslims need to exhibit the best of manners at all times. Our faith permits us to live in a pluralistic universe. We share this world. We respect the people of the books..yes Christmas is ridden with pagan rituals and even Christians acknowledge that Jesus, the Christ (peace be upon him) was born in the springtime...we can wish Christians a peaceful day that they celebrate...as we can do with those of all faiths...we are not at war with them.
We do not live isolated lives. Please..we have so much more to strive for than to spend time on questioning the intent of a sister who is working so hard for the good of all. Let Allah subhana talla judge us.
Brother Mabsoot, once again thank you for keeping this open.

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalaam alaikum dear Brother,
I just wanted to ask you a simple question whether we muslims can greet the non-belivers on their religious occassions or not?
jazak allah

Answer:

Pagan festivals

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Every people have their own civilization, their culture and days of celebration. Allah and His Messenger (saws) have appointed the two Eids for celebration in Islam, and have made every Friday a day of Eid and celebration for the believers. For a true believer, every day that dawns is a Sign from our Merciful Lord, and every day that Allah gives us life, can be a day of celebration for us.

There is absolutely no harm if one celebrates or congratulates one's non-muslim friends on their personal accomplishments and happy occasions like their marriage, the birth of their baby, or their children's graduation, or a promotion in their job, etc. But it would neither behove nor befit a believer who believes in Allah and the Last Day to greet or celebrate any of their religious occasions with them like Christmas, Easter, Diwali, Holi, etc……for that then would be to intentionally witness a falsehood.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 25 Surah Furqaan verse 72:

72 (The true slave-servants of Allah are) Those who witness no falsehood (intentionally), and if they pass by futility they pass by it with honorable (avoidance)

In light of the guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah, the jurors in Islam have listed four categories which would make any celebration or gathering forbidden:

The celebration should not be a pagan religious festival.
The celebration should not involve any 'shirk'.
The celebration should not involve or encourage 'fahisha' or indecency or any of the things absolute forbidden in Islam (alcohol, gambling, etc.)
The celebration should not indulge in excess spending.

The pagan beliefs and religions and thus their religious festivals are based on absolute falsehoods, and it does not behove one who sincerely believes in Allah and the Last Day as Truth to indulge in celebrations of falsehood. To greet or celebrate pagans on their pagan and religious days of festivals would be to justify their false beliefs.

There are many other and better ways where a believer can display his well-wishes towards his non-muslims friends, neighbors, colleagues, etc. by being kind, just, honest, and always truthful with them, giving them good advice, and being their sincere well-wisher at all times. If the believers strive with their good character and best manners as always befits a muslim, it would go a long way in promoting good cordial relations with their non-muslim brethren, rather than celebrating their pagan festivals with them.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah's Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
