can muslims ever recover from 9/11?

earlier today, i met a 92 year old American World War 2 veteran and i was amazed by the stories that he told me about his experience in storming Normandy Beach in northern France. after we finished talking, i began to think about the Japanese, the people that had actually caused us to involve ourselves in the second world war after they committed kamikaze attacks against our navy during a time of peace. that was the 9/11 of their day.

as a result of that attack, thousands upon thousands of innocent Japanese Americans were placed in internment camps due to the fear that many Americans had about their Japanese neighbors. eventually, the Japanese Americans were released and in time, they were seen to be as American as any other American in this country. today Japanese Americans are very successful group here in America, and it’s pretty much forgotten by many that Japan once attacked us and it’s very often forgotten that they were wrongfully placed in interment camps. my point is that their good reputation has been restored. which leads me to wonder if the good reputation that muslims in america once had will ever return.

prior to 9/11, even the first trade center attack; muslims have always been seen as upstanding individuals. when 9/11 occurred that view rapidly diminished. muslims today are undergoing terrible scrutiny, discrimination, physical and verbal attacks. even some of our mosques have become victims of hatred. but as of the time of this writing, nearly 7 years have passed since 9/11/2001, yet the fear and hatred for muslims in the US and the world continues to grow, how much longer, how much more time is needed, for us muslims to regain, the respect and trust that we previously held before 9/11? when will we have a happy ending in the same way that the Japanese Americans have been able to have?

we muslims have been more beneficial to this nation than we have been unbeneficial to it. more Americans commit atrocities against their fellow citizens than muslims have. how many muslims are on the news for having sold drugs? how many muslim women have you seen selling themselves on the streets? how many muslims are in the adult film industry? how many muslims are shooting people at America’s malls? how many muslims are on trial for rape and murder here in America? how many muslims have been convicted for killing someone while driving drunk? how many muslims are high school dropouts? how many muslims are eating off the fat of the land on welfare? the answer: hardly any. yet, America fears us. Americans need to fear their own countrymen, not muslims. Americans, should welcome muslims not push them to the side. with all of this being said, why can’t we get back to where we once stood? answer: the people in power, both government and business don’t want us to be. islamic morality will be the destroyer of America’s immorality, and for them that can’t happen at any cost.

MashaaAllah. i must say this post is very touching and very true. but this world is a prison for the believer. so i guess that we must be patient and work hard to maintain are dignity. Muslims now adays are tryiing to fit in with places they don't belong to, but if we would united just under one banner we would succeed. the banner of islam. But muslims have become weak and hopeless due to the hardships they face, especially the youth. the youth is the future....but they're afraid of standing up for who they are, if only they knew, if only. asalamu alaykum. jazakaAllah for the post

Salaam,

First of all Muslims in America need to stop feeling responisible for something they were not a part of. They need to wake up and open thier eyes.
Muslims in America choose to live with fear over their hearts. They became the representation or poster child of what the fabricators of 9/11 wanted.
Prior to 9/11 there was little difference. I am not going to revisit this issue. We have been the worker bees. The intolereance for Islam has been around forever. Now, we have the propaganda machine and people buy into it.
The adjectives: extremist, radical, fundamental, and oppressive were used prior to 9/11.
The youth needs to vote for Ron Paul. It is that simple. The youth needs to make the masjids the place of social activity everyday to make sure the needs of the community are recognized and rectified. The youth needs to have a unilateral mode of communication with all other masjids to make the bonds stronger.

Americans r never ashamed of wat they do like quantanamo n this n that so why should we b of something like 9/11 that is still not even crystal clear that it was done by muslims:SMILY346:
