Celebrating Eid alone

Are you celebrating this Eid alone or away from family and friends?

Tell us about this experience.

:salam2:

I "celebrated" it alone, away from family. It was like a normal day. I went to the Eid-ul-fitr salah, then went to office from there. I had a very simple lunch. Worked till late evening and came back home. I prayed to Allah that for next Eid, I should be back home (with family).

Jazakallahu Khair!

I celebrated it alone as there are no other Muslims here. I did buy my son a new outfit, he is 2 so he really didn't care but I did. I prayed that next year I will be in a bigger city with Muslims around so I won't be lonely next year.

Even though my family was around for Eid we didn't really "celebrate". Everyone went to work, and I basically just stayed home and took a nap.. Yeah.. xD

I spend most of my Eid time at home.and the rest in Masjid with other brothers sharing some knowledge.Wanted to go to mountains region but than again weather was too hot to even considering walking out of house.

Just realized how self absorbed and ungrateful I am now...yesterday I was complaining about how I couldn't go eat out and stayed at home instead. Even though I prayed the salaat, was with my huge family, lots of good food, and many guests coming over. Lots of people don't even get the chance to be with their families or any Muslims period...and how can you forget Somalia? Hmmm

Islam is a way of life
I celebrated it alone too. Husband is over seas and my family are Christians.
But I have lots of "Eid Mubarak" emails from my Muslim friends both in the US and outside of the US :)

Insha Allah!
Right now I am stuck where I am, but when i graduate college insha Allah I will migrate closer to more Muslims :)

Dear brother,

In some country it was even a working day on Eidul Fitri!
What a shame!:shymuslima1:
I personal think this is so unfair to our fellow muslim.

Islam is the oldest religion on earth.
Islam is the world's largest religion.
People should mark a day of respect to Islam.
Most of the modern technology are basicly coming from Islam
at least authorise that!

Even the non believers are getting the privilege of short hours on Ramadhan
and enjoying long holidays on Eidul Fitri/Adha in some Islam country
but giving a day off for Eidul Fitri is still consider too much for the non islamic country.

Why is Islam still foreign to them?
Islam should be regconise by now!
Why are they too Xtreme
slow
working
on
this???
A day off for Eid fitri and Eid Adha
=simple!

Happy Eid Al Mubarak
To
you and your family
And To
All My Family In Islam world wide.

has happened to me. Went to mosque, done days prime duty, and then back to worldly duty. Peace with both. Shared sweets with friends / colleagues.

I had then wondered what if the place had no mosque , no muslims, and then I felt I would have still done, whats expected on the eid day... Pray, Eat, share the joy.... just my opinion.

Islam is the world's largest religion.

Dear respected sister although I agree in most part with your post as a whole you had a few facts wrong.

Hinduism is often called the "oldest living religion" or the "oldest living major religion" in the world.

Source: when I googled "oldest religion on earth" this is what came up...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hinduism along with other sites that seemed to show Hinduism as being the oldest religion on earth.

I also googled "worlds largest religion" and according to the chart listing at the bottom where it states "Largest religions or belief systems by number of adherents" Christianity just topped Islam by a few million followers so to be politically correct it is alright to say that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the West however it is still not yet the worlds largest religion to date.

And you are going to trust wiki on this one? if you go by the kuffar's definition then yes, hindusim might be the oldest religion but if you understand Islam then you know Islam is the oldest religion. It began with Adam a.s. and finished with Prophet (s.a.w.)...

:wasalam: Sister,

People (non-muslims) consider Prophet Muhammed (SAW) to be the founder of the religion Islam. So they calculate the time Islam existed on earth from the period of Prophet Muhammed (SAW). But, we know the truth that every child born on earth was/will be a muslim. Islam started with Adam A.S. The first human being on earth was a muslim. So, logically speaking, shouldn't Islam be the oldest religion?

Regarding largest, yes Christianity is largest now. But, Islam is growing really fast. It is evident with so many people reverting back to Islam.

I hope that helps.

Jazakallahu Khair!

I used wiki because it is well known of all the sites that came up when I googled. Here are the links to other informational sites which had the same answer:

http://ask.yahoo.com/20011106.html
http://www.wisegeek.com/which-are-the-oldest-religions-in-the-world.htm (note on this site it first states that Islam is the NEWEST religion which has the MOST followers yet if you read further down it states: "Experts agree that the oldest organized religion is Hinduism, which dates back to 1,500 BCE" and if you read what sister posted she stated "Islam is the OLDEST religion on earth which is simply not true according to recorded information.)
http://www.paktribune.com/pforums/posts.php?t=1988&start=1

I apologise it is taking forever to post all the links which all agree that hinduism seems to be the oldest formal religion on the earth. I have a slow computer but if you just google "oldest religion on earth" you can see the list of websites for yourself!

Dear brother we are not arguing that Islam is the oldest religion according to Quran and you are right it began with Adam (AS)and finished with Muhammed (SAW) but I was speaking of information according to what is recorded in the record books and that is how I came up with my answer.

To all the others who responded to my link of information from what is written in the record books.

I do realize this is a Muslim website and I AM a Muslim so yes I agree with ALL of you that according to Quran Islam is the oldest religion which dates back to Adam (SA) who was the first man! I get it, got it and I even AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!

I was merely posting information according to what is in the record books. Be angry with the message but dont kill the messenger please!

I understand what you are saying. But if someone tells me hinduism is the oldest then i'll tell them they are wrong and i don't care what their source is. The fact is that islamic monotheism is the oldest religion. I refuse to go by the criteria and dictations of the kuffars in telling me what the oldest reason.

Interesting side note, i read hinduism is corrupted religion of Noah a.s. and these people will come on J-Day denying their prophet...

Actually, English is not her native language.
I cannot believe you said that to her. She has been a regular on this site for a long time and ALWAYS posts beneficial posts :astag:

Also, her post was relevant to the topic. Topic was spending Eid alone, her post talks about how in some countries Eid days are considered working days. Thus kids or families spending them alone.

You have the right to your opinion just as everyone else does brother and I respect your decision to ignore what is written according to statistics and fact. It is your right to follow what you believe regardless of whatever the popular vote is.

I personally believe ALL religions with the exception of Islam have been corrupted from their original forms and that includes Christianity and Judiasm which were recognised religions by Allah himself before their corruption as is written in the glorious Quran.
