Colored lenses?

So my question is regarding colored contact lenses......is it halal to wear them? I mean I know ALOT of people that do but I personally don't agree with it because I feel that it would artificially alter what Allah has naturally given us (a.k.a. eye color). Alot of sisters I know do this for purely cosmetic purposes and don't believe there's anything wrong with it, and I myself didn't think so either until I realized that it IS artificial enhancement of a kind and that we would be changing our natural eye color. I mean if Allah wanted to give people a certain eye color, He would have. Lately this has become a rather complex issue to discuss so if there are any Hadiths pertaining to this please let me know.

Praise be to Allaah.

There are two types of contact lenses:

Ophthalmic contact lenses: those that are used to correct long- or short-sightedness etc. There is nothing wrong with using this kind of contact lenses on the advice of a specialist eye-doctor.

Coloured cosmetic contact lenses: these come under the rulings on adornment. If a woman wears them for her husband, there is nothing wrong with it. If she is wearing them where others will see her too, then it should not cause any fitnah or temptation. There is also the condition that they should not cause any harm, and there should be no element of cheating or deceiving, such as a woman wearing them when she meets the man who is proposing marriage to her. Also, they should not be extravagantly expensive, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “… and waste not by extravagance…” [al-An’aam 6:141].

I forgot to add: Is there a difference between wearing colored lenses and wearing makeup, in the sense that they both enhance what is natural (i.e. However makeup enhances what is natural whereas colored lenses REPLACE what is natural.....)
