Eid mubar'ak

I have just began to learn to read and write in arabic and i'm confused about how the letters take form in a word.

Like in Arabic, the letter ayyin- how does this fit in a word. If I wanted to write A'ad would I start with aleph or ayyin? Does aleph-aleph-dal equate to A'ad?
Or is it only ayyin when the word starts with ay?
If I wanted to write noor = would I start with the letter nun? Does the english letter U from the arabic letter nuun?
Is lahem spellt with - laam aleph-ha-ayyin-meem?

So confusing:(

Thanks if anyone can help

Salam.

I had the same problem.
The best way, i realise is to know as much 'Arabic vocabulary' as possible.
It's useless to learn to read and write Arabic through looking at 'English alphabets'

For example, you mention 'Noor'.
If you wanted to write it in Arabic and you dont know the Arabic vocabulary for 'Noor', you would be thinking, the 'N' would be 'Nun', what about the 'oo' and 'r', etc.

This really makes it hard and confusing.

But what if you knew the Arabic vocabulary for 'Noor'?
You would know that it consists of 'Nun', 'Waw', and 'Ra'
Automatically you would know how to write 'Noor' in Arabic.
Which is نور

we got confused ourselves by writing some arabic letters in english

but we solved the issue of the letter [ayyin] by writing [3] instead

so the word A'ad will be 3ad

then we all know it begins with ayyin not aleph
