Today Shaykh Zayd al-Madkhalee has passed away
Earlier in the morning, today, Thursday 13 of March 2014 (12/5/1435 H.) Shaykh Zayd ibn Muhammad ibn Haadee al-Madkhalee has passed away; the great scholar ('allaamah), faqeeh, zaahid (ascetic), protector of the Sunnah, mufti of southern Saudi Arabia. This indeed is a big loss for Ahlus-Sunnah. The Shaykh was born in 1938 (1357 H.) and lived in the southern part of the country (Samita, Jazan).
Innâ lillâhi wa innâ ileyhi râji'ûn
(Verily, we belong to Allaah and certainly to Him shall we return).
O Allaah, have mercy on the Shaykh, forgive his sins, make his grave a garden from the gardens of Paradise, and let him on the Day of Judgement enter into Jannah al-Firdaws!
May Allaah give us benefit from his knowledge and reward him for the da'wah (call) he did to the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger ﷺ.

عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما قال: هل تدرون ما ذهابُ العلم؟ قلنا: لا، قال: ذهاب العلماء
It is narrated that 'Abdullaah ibn 'Abbaas said: “Do you know when knowledge will disappear?” We said: “No”. He said: “With the passing away of the scholars!” [“Al-Kabеer” 8/276, Sunan ad-Daarimi 1/78]
Imaam Hasan al-Basari said: “They used to say, the death of an Aalim is a scrape in Islaam which is not filled by anything until there remains a difference of day and night (i.e. until the Day of Judgement”). [Sunan ad-Daarimi 326]
