Don’t Criticize Your Wife’s Food

TheAuthenticBase

Assalaamu 'alaykum!
The Prophet (saw) used to eat from that which was available in the house. Don’t we find today many husbands who beat and curse their wives just because their cooking was not up to the mark or because they delayed in their cooking! It has reached me that some husbands at times take the pots while it is boiling and empty it out on the heads of their wives! Greatly oppressed are the women who are with the likes of these blameworthy men. And at times, he may throw the food around the house just because he didn’t like it. Is this from the behavior of the Muslims?! By Allaah, no!

The Prophet (saw) used to enter his house and say: “Do you have any food?

They would say: “No we don’t.

Then he would say: “O Allaah, I am fasting.” [Muslim, An-Nisaa'ee & Others]

And:

“He didn’t even used to find a low grade date that would satisfy his stomach.” [Muslim, Tirmidhee, and others]

And ‘Aa’ishah said:

“The crescent then a crescent and then a crescent would pass by, three crescents (i.e. 3 months) and the fire would not be lit (for cooking) in the house of the Messenger of Allaah (saw).”

It was said: “What was your sustenance O Aunt?

She said: “The two black things – dates and water.” [Bukhaaree]

He ate from what was available and he didn’t bother about that which was not available and he made good with what existed of food. And he was not known to have “picked faults with food ever. If it pleased him he ate it, and if he didn’t like it he didn’t eat it.” [Bukhaaree & Muslim]

I'm not what you believe
:jazaak:
brother, but let me express.if a wife really isn't able to cook neither an egg,we risk to make the husband to die of hunger:):)
the first time I cooked the bread to my husband it was little and tough:SMILY29:.but he ate it and he liked it just because it was made with my hands and because I was unexpert in cooking...then after many years,my bread is totally changed in its quality.I think that if a husband tastes for example a dish of meat and vegetabkes,he retains that it's a little bit in loss of salt,it would be good to know it,so that we can correct the loss the next time, isn't it?is it never happened to you,to eat something and not to have the courage to express your opinion for fear to offend somebody?I think that we can do everything with the good manners:wasalam:
