Salaam,

Since I am attending medical school in order to become a fertility doctor I am quite versed in the fiqh of fertility treatments. Donor egg/sperm is not permissible in Islam, even if the recipient is family. Any form of fertility treatment within the marital couple, including the use of sperm and egg, must be the couple's material.

Salaam,

A Muslim is not permitted to donate nor receive egg/sperm for IVF, the material must be their own. You are permitted to use your own egg and sperm (husband and wife's) and there are no limitations on medical techniques for fertility assistance.

Here is a lengthy fatwa concerning the allowances of IVF:

http://www.islam-qa.com/en/ref/98604/IVF

But to summarize, IVF is permissible in cases of infertility (it cannot be used for gender selection). Only the husband's and wife's biological material may be used. Hope this helps!
