Once, the people of the city invited Mulla Nasruddin to deliver a speech. When he got on the minbar (pulpit), he found the audience was not very enthusiastic, so he asked "Do you know what I am going to say?" The audience replied "NO", so he announced "I have no desire to speak to people who don't even know what I will be talking about" and he left. The people felt embarrassed and called him back again the next day. This time when he asked the same question, the people replied "YES" So Mullah Nasruddin said, "Well, since you already know what I am going to say, I won't waste any more of your time" and he left. Now the people were really perplexed. They decided to try one more time and once again invited the Mullah to speak the following week. Once again he asked the same question - "Do you know what I am going to say?" Now the people were prepared and so half of them answered "YES" while the other half replied "NO". So Mullah Nasruddin said "The half who know what I am going to say, tell it to the other half" and he left!

"When I was in the desert," said Nasruddin one day, "I caused an entire tribe of horrible and bloodthirsty bedouins to run."

"However did you do it?" asked a person.

"Easy. I just ran, and they ran after me."

Poor man. He is meant to have passed away, and look at the way people talk about him. :( I am not pointing fingers at you Brother AsifVohra, dont take it personally. My own family know many jokes of this man, but I personally feel its not good to talk of the deceased the way people talk of him.

Although the story was very funny, I have to admit. Those villagers that have fabricated these jokes about him were quite talented ;)

Brother Asif, I appreciate the fact that coming on to TTI, there are laughs to look forward to, but we shouldn't talk of the dead that way. I am sure when we leave this world, we would not want people to make us sound immature, dumb and laughed at the way people do of him. And once again please dont take it personally as you are not the person that have started these jokes, but if we can we should avoid it. Just a friendly reminder.

Brother, I specifically mentioned that my comment about laughing at dead people was not for you. There are serials of his life experiences, yes, but what reason do we have to encourage jokes about him. Yes its true, we can remind eachother of good times we had with a deceased person while he was alive, but be plain and honest, those jokes are not there to remind people of his good times, they are there to mock and ridicule him.

Once again, I have no intentions of upsetting you. It's just that talking of dead people is not something I can agree to. I hope you understand.

i hear about this man in many islamic jokes yet i did not know that he was an actual person. so please someone tell me about this man. what was he? what did he do? etc. salam. and by the way sister mesbah i know that the deceased should not be made out of mockery but if these things are actually true then he was a funny man. and i've never seen anyone make bad jokes of him- but actaully jokes like these that make him an outstanding well respected man. and another thing is that actaully it's good to talk of the deceased( in a good way of course) so as to remind each other of death and the good legacies people like him left. because then people will try to follow in his footsteps since he was a pious man. especially the youth. so it brings forward alot to the ummah.
asalamu alaykum.

asalamu alaykum. dear sis. i'm a sis. and please stop acting as if we are mad at you. wallahi i am not mad at you. i was just sharing the positive side of remembering the deceased and sharing what they did in their lives. if these jokes are lies and have not been said by him then yes it is wrong to keep them going. but if they're actually true then it would be good to let them continue for it has a positive effect on us youth. at least me. we do not mean to upset you nor to mock this pious man. we love him and care for him as our own and we would never do such a thing to disrespect or ridicule him. wallahi i do not think any muslim would do that. maybe my words seem i'm mad- but wallahi my heart and my mind are not filled with any anger. so understand please dear sis that everyone is just sharing their opinion and that noone is mad at you. nor have u upset anyone. :salam2:
