Gratitude for Blessings
The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Allah will be pleased with His slave if, when he eats some food he praises Him for it, and when he drinks something, he praises Him for it.” [Muslim]
The questioning on the Day of Judgement about blessings and luxuries will be to question whether a person was grateful for the blessings that Allah bestowed upon him or not. If he gave thanks while feeling it from his heart, then he will have fulfilled the duty required by that blessing. If he refused to thank Allah and was ungrateful, Allah will be angry with him.
Make it a habit to say “Alhamdulillah” after you eat or drink anything. Also, use the energy and health you derive from food and drink, in Allah’s obedience. To use His blessings to rebel against Him is ingratitude of the highest order.
