QUBAANI: A Subservient Submission

As Salaam Mu Aleykum Brothers and Sisters....

My contribution to this thread is about Qubaani, I hope you will find this relevant and useful:hijabi:

Qurbaani: a Subservient Submission

All praise is due to Allah The Sustainer, and Protective Guardian of humanity.May His choicest blessings be upon our Master Sayyidina Muhammad and upon his illustrious galaxy of Companions.

We once again commemorate the heroic submission of Ibrahim and the valiant compliance of Ismail u on this day of Eidul Adha.

The life of Ibrahim u serves as an epitome of faith, courage, and compassion. His conduct, conviction, and submission are the vital traits patently absent from a society characterised by its indifferent, selfish, self-centered and voracious ethic.

"The Knife"

"It is neither the flesh, nor the blood [of the animal] that reaches Allah, but it is your Allah-consciousness that reaches Him."

The concept of Qurbaani has a profound impact on, our lives. It is relevant today, as it was in the day and age of Ibrahim u.The "Knife" as an implement, has the potential to disconnect, remove, and extricate. Qurbaani, is really a symbolic declaration to sever, unfetter, cut off and dispense with extravagant, self-centred ostentation. The "knife" needs to go beyond the throat of the animal, it has to be placed onto the heart, and sever the arteries that sustain sentiments of greed, hatred, cowardice, hypocrisy, and malice. The melodies of the heart have to ooze, out like blood that flows from the sacrificed animal.Allah needs neither the flesh nor the blood of the sacrificed animal; He simply ascertains the "Knife" has to be placed on the beast within you so that it may extricate the venom and brute passion.

"The Family"
When he left his wife and infant son at the foot of mount Safa and Marwa, she simply responded saying that: "He [Allah] will certainly never leave us to perish." Likewise, when he concurred with his son about the dream and its implication, his son responded by saying: My beloved father, do as you have been commanded! Allah-willing you will find me from among the patient." What kind of relationship existed between husband, wife, and son? How did Ibrahim u command such implicit trust and dedication from his family? How did they so easily identify with his values and purpose?

Demeanor! Communication! Compassion! Three fundamental requirements for the healthy development of a vibrant, happy, and healthy, family. How often do you communicate, teach, and display love, to those around you? Does your conduct warrant emulation?

"The Submission"
"Verily my prayer, my sacrifice, my very life, and death is for Allah The Sustainer of the Worlds. He has no partner, and with that (belief) have I been commanded, and I am the foremost of those who submit."

The unparalleled submission of Ibrahim, Hajira, and Ismail u lays the basis for our relation with Allah. It highlights the need to identify with the precept of "Divine Rights and Human Obligations" No command of Allah can be made subject to man-made laws.No command of Allah can be measured against the benchmark of common law. How consistent is the Qurbaani of Ismail, the apparent abandonment of Hajira in the burning sand dunes of Arabia with the incoherent concept of Human Rights and Gender Equality?

"The Consequences"
The courage, determination, and faith of single women paved the history of the desolate sand dunes of Arabia. The steadfastness of Hajira u served as the foundation for the eventual establishment of Makkah. The scorching thirst of an infant led to the miraculous well of zam zam. What apparently seemed to be a waste of human life gave rise to the annual pilgrimage where millions of Muslims converge to pay homage to Ibrahim

Too often, we stand petrified of the thunder, oblivious of the potential rain it brings. We forget that dark clouds herald torrential rain.

The Law and workings of Allah are perfect, full of wisdom and are premised on His Mercy and Benevolence. What at first seems to be difficult, crude and burdensome, may really be the beginning of lasting prosperity. Allah says: "Perhaps you may dislike many a thing, whilst Allah has placed abundant good therein." Qurbaani is the very antitheses of subjective obedience or convenient compliance.

May Allah Ta'aala imbue our darkened souls with the true spirit of Qurbaani - Ameen.

PROCEDURE FOR ARAFAH

I hope that I am not overlaoding this thread now.... lol.

Procedure for 'Arafah

Hajj has three faraa-id (fards):

1. Niyyah for the Ihraam of Hajj. 2. Wuquuf of 'Arafah. 3. Tawaafuz Ziyaarah.

Hajj has six waajibaat (waajibs):

1. Wuqoof of Muzdalifah. 2. Pelting the Jimaar. 3. Qurbaani (hady). 4. Shaving the head (for males). 5. Sa'ee of Hajj. 6. Tawaaful Widaa'.

Transliteration Labbayk Allaahumma Labbayk. Labbayka laa shareeka laka Labbayk. Inna al-Hamda Wa al-Ni'imata Laka Wa al-Mulka, Laa shareeka Laka

The most important rukn of Hajj is the Wuquuf of 'Arafah. It is sunnah to reach 'Arafah before zawaal and have a bath. This niyyah for the wuquuf is mustahab. The proper period for the wuquuf begins from zawaal till sunset. It is best that a person stands facing the Qiblah till Maghrib whilst making Wuquuf. If one cannot stand all the time then stand as much as one possibly can. Stand for a while then sit. When strength is gained stand again. During this period engage in Dhikr, Tilaawah (recital) of the Qur'aan, Salawaat (Duruud), Istighfaar and Taubah (repentence). In between repeat the Talbiyah (Labbayk) audibly. Cry and make Du'aa (supplicate) for one's self; parents; relatives; asaatidhah (teachers); friends; fellow countrymen and the Muslim Ummah. These are special moments of acceptance. During wuquuf it is sunnah to lift the hands while making Du'aa as is the method with normal Du'aa. When one tires lower the hands and continue Du'aa. When courage is gained raise the hands again. Sayyidina Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) lifted his Mubaarak hands after the 'Asr salaah and said this Du'aa:

Transliteration: Allaahu Akbar Wa Lillaahi al-Hamd, Allaahu Akbar Wa Lillaahi al-Hamd, Allaahu Akbar Wa Lillaahi al-Hamd. Laa Ilaaha illa Allaahu Wahdahuu Laa shareeka lahu. Lahu al-Mulk Wa Lahu al-Hamd. Allaahumma ihdinii bi al-Hudaa Wa Naqqinii bi al-Taqwaa, Wa-ghfirlii fi al-Aakhirat wa al-Uulaa

Then he would lower his hands so that Surah Faatihah (Al-hamdu) could be recited. Thereafter he raised his hands and repeated the same words (Du'aa). He then again lowered his hands so that the Surah Faatihah could be recited. He did the same for a third time. It has been ascetained from the Hadiith that Sayyidina Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) spent all the time during the wuquuf in Du'aa and Dhikr. Besides this it is recommended that all the Du'aas of the Munaajaati Maqbuul, be recited with understanding and humility. Sayyidina Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: "The Haajii who on the Day of 'Arafah, on the plains of 'Arafah facing the Qiblah recites:

Transliteration: Bismillaahi al-Rahmaan al-Raheem. Qul Huwa Allaahu Ahad. Allaahu al-Samad. Lam Yalid Wa Lam Yuuwlad. Wa Lam Yakun Lahuu Kufuwan Ahad

a hundred times, and:

Transliteration: Laa ilaaha Illa Allaahu Wahdahuu Laa shareeka Lahu, Lahu al-Mulk Wa lahu al-Ham, Wa Huwa Alaa kulli Shay-in Qadeer

hundred times, and:

Transliteration: Allaahumma salli Alaa Muhammad-in Wa alaa Aali Muhammad-in kamaa sallayta Alaa Aali Ibraahiima Innaka hamiidun majeed

a hundred times

Allah Ta'aala says to his Malaa-ikah (angels), "O My Malaa-ikah, what reward is there for this bondsman. He uttered my tasbih, tahliil,. takbiir, ta'ziim, thanaa, praises and conferred Duruud on my beloved Rasul. O My Malaa-ikah bear witness that I have forgiven him and have accepted his intercession. If he had interceded on behalf of all those present at 'Arafah, I would have accepted". - Durri Manthuur. In the Hizbul Aa'zam this is also added:

Transliteration: Subhaana Allaahu Wa al-Hamd lillaahi Wa Laa Ilaaha illa Allaahu Wa Allaahu Akbar. Wa laa hawla Wa Laa Quwwata illaa bi Allaahi al-Aliyy al-Adheem. Astaghfir Allaaha Rabii min kulli Dhan-bin Wa Atuubu ilayhi

a hundred times.

Laxity on this day cannot ever be compensated for. Strive to perform 'Ibaadah as much as possible. No moment must be wasted. Maghrib salaah must not be performed in 'Arafah. One must leave for Muzdalifah at sunset. The talbiyah (Labbayk) should be repeated on the way. May Allah Ta'aala make the Hajj easy and accept it, and grant sincerity and Ihsaan, Aa-miin.

Note: It is advisable for the Hujjaaj (haajis) to perform the zuhr and 'asr salaah in their tents. Zuhr salaah at its stipulated time and 'asr at its stipulated time. The zuhr and 'asr must not be combined. Do not attempt to go to the Jabal Rahmah. The sun and heat are severe, and there is a great chance of not knowing where one's tent is situated when returning, hence getting lost. This will cause anxiety to one's companions. May Allah Ta'aala protect us. Aa-miin.

:salam2:
Jazaki Allah khair sister for bringing up this topic, let me share you with this Hadeeth about the excellence of fastin during the first nine days of Dhul-al Hijjah (we don't fast on the 10th day because it's the day of Eid)

Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "There are no days during which the righteous action is so pleasing to Allah than these days (i.e., the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah).'' He was asked: "O Messenger of Allah, not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah?'' He (PBUH) replied, "Not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah, except in case one goes forth with his life and his property and does not return with either of it.''
[Al-Bukhari].

Commentary: This Hadith brings out the following two points:

1. Righteous deeds during the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah are far better and more rewarding than righteous deeds done on other days of the year, because they are Hajj days in the sacred season of pilgrimage. Because of their excellence and importance, Allah (SWT) swore by them, thus: "By the Dawn; by the ten Nights...'' (89:1,2)

2. Jihad has great eminence in Islam

what's the greatest day of the entire year?? its Arafa
for people who are not performing hajj , fasting that day was strongly recommended by our Prophet salla llaho 3alyhi wa sallam
He said : Fasting the day of Arafah causes forgiveness of the sins of the previous year and coming year.
the day after, the tenth day of dulhijja the day of eid al adha where fasting is forbiden.
since the first day of dulhijja till the time of sacrifice, the owner of the sacrified animal(the head of the familly or the person who has paid for it) shoulden't cut his nails or his hair as reported by muslim and others from Umm Salama raida Laho 3anha (most scholars say that this is limited to the owner and no applicable to the wife, the children ...)

What is the takbeer at specified times and all the time? When does it start?.

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.
Firstly – The virtue of Takbeer
The first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah are venerated days. Allaah swore by them in His Book, and swearing by a thing is indicative of its importance and great benefit. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“By the dawn;
By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah)”
[al-Fajr 89:1]
Ibn ‘Abbaas, Ibn al-Zubayr, Mujaahid and others among the earlier and later generations said: This refers to the ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah. Ibn Katheer said: This is the correct view.
Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 8/413

Good deeds during these days are beloved to Allaah, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allaah than these ten days.” They said, “O Messenger of Allaah, not even jihad for the sake of Allaah?” The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Not even jihad for the sake of Allaah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight, giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 969; al-Tirmidhi, 757. This version was narrated by al-Tirmidhi and classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 605.

One of the righteous deeds during these days is to remember Allaah by reciting takbeer (saying “Allaahu akbar”) and tahleel (saying “Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah”), because of the following evidence.
1 – Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“That they may witness things that are of benefit to them (i.e. reward of Hajj in the Hereafter, and also some worldly gain from trade), and mention the Name of Allaah on appointed days”
[al-Hajj 22:28]
The “appointed days” are the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah.
2 – Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And remember Allaah during the appointed Days”
[al-Baqarah 2:203]
These are the days of al-Tashreeq, i.e. the 11th, 12th and 13th of Dhu’l-Hijjah.
3 – The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The days of tashreeq are the days of eating, drinking and remembering Allaah.” Narrated by Muslim, 1141.

Secondly: Description of the Takbeer

The scholars differed concerning the form of the Takbeer.
1 – The first view is that it is:
Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, wa lillaahi’l-hamd (Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, there is no god but Allaah, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, and to Allaah be praise).
2 – The second view is that it is:
Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, wa lillaahi’l-hamd (Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, there is no god but Allaah, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, and to Allaah be praise).
3 – The third view is that it is:
Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, wa lillaahi’l-hamd (Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, there is no god but Allaah, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, and to Allaah be praise).
The matter is broad in scope because there is no text narrated from the Prophet SAW which specifies a particular form of the Takbeer.
Thirdly – The time of the Takbeer

The takbeer is divided into two categories:
1 – Takbeer at any time. This is takbeer that is not limited to a specific time, and it is Sunnah to say it all the time, morning and evening, before prayer and after prayer, at all times.
2 – Takbeer at certain times. This is takbeer that is limited to the time immediately after prayer.
It is Sunnah to recite takbeer at any time during the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah and all the days of Tashreeq, starting from the beginning of the month of Dhu’l-Hijjah (i.e., from sunset on the last day of Dhu’l-Qa’dah) until the end of the days of al-Tashreeq, which is when the sun sets on the thirteenth day of Dhu’l-Hijjah) .

With regard to at certain times, it starts from Fajr on the day of ‘Arafah and lasts until the sun sets on the last day of the days of Tashreeq, in addition to the takbeer that may be recited at any time. So when a person says the tasleem at the end of the obligatory prayer, he should pray for forgiveness (by saying Astaghfir-Allaah) three times, and say, “Allaahumma anta al-salaam wa minka al-salaam, tabaarakta yaa dhaa’l-jalaali wa’l-ikraam (“O Allaah, You are al-Salaam [the One Who is free from all defects and deficiencies) , and from You is all peace, blessed are You, O possessor of majesty and honour)”, then start the takbeer.
This is for those who are not on Hajj. The pilgrims should start the takbeer recited after prayer from Zuhr on the Day of Sacrifice (the 10th of Dhu’l-Hijjah) .
And Allaah knows best.

See Majmoo’ Fataawa Ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him), 13/17; al-Sharh al-Mumti’ by Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him), 5/220-224.
