He is Insane

Allah is sufficient.
A man went to Ibn 'Aqeel and said, ''Whenever I plunge myself two or three times into a river to take a bath, I am not sure whether the water reached every part of my body, and am consequently unsure whether I have purified myself. What should I do?'' Ibn 'Aqeel answered, ''Allah's Messenger (s.a.w) said, ''The pen is raised from three: from the child until he reaches adulthood, from the one who is sleeping until he wakes up, and from the insane man until he regains his senses.' And whoever plunges himself into a river once, twice, and then three times, yet still feels that he has not taken a shower, is insane.

As-salaamu `alaykum.

Sadly, some of the followers of certain madhaahib are like this. Do you have any reference or isnaad for this?

Actually, there`s a missing part to this story.

"A man went to Ibn 'Aqeel and said, "Whenever I plunge myself two or three times into a river to take a bath, I am not sure whether the water has reached every part of my body, and am consequently unsure whether I have purified myself. What should I do?"

Ibn 'Aqeel replied, "Do not pray."

He asked, "Why do you say that?"

Ibn 'Aqeel answered, "Allah's Messenger (SAWS) said, "The pen is raised from three: from the child until he reaches adulthood, from the one who is sleeping until he wakes up, and from the insane man until he regains his senses. And whoever plunges himself into a river once, twice and three times, yet still feels that he has not taken a shower, is insane."

I am not sure, Brother Al-Kashmiri, about the authenticity of this incident. But I am sure that Shaikh Bin Othaimeen also mentioned this story when he was giving a lesson in Fiqh, and talking about "intentions".

You can find it if you scroll three-quarters of the page down.

Allah is sufficient.
Assalamu alaikum, I actually went back and saw there was a part missing, I mistakenly skipped some words. There is a reference at the back of the book but unfortunately, i wouldn't know which one is its own.
jazakallah khairan.

Wa`alaykum us-salaam.

That's fine, I only asked for the reference because you posted only the text of the narration and nothing else.

Very beneficial post by the way. Jazaakillaahu khayran!
