BAGHDAD - U.S. bombers and jet fighters unleashed 40,000 pounds of explosives on the southern outskirts of Baghdad within 10 minutes Thursday in one of the biggest airstrikes of the war, flattening what the military called safe havens for al-Qaida in Iraq.

The massive attack, carried out above approaching U.S. and Iraqi troops, was part of Operation Phantom Phoenix, a nationwide campaign launched Tuesday against al-Qaida in Iraq.

Maj. Alayne Conway, a spokeswoman for troops in the Multi-National Division-Center, which controls the broad swath of territory south of Baghdad, said the amount of ordnance dropped in 10 minutes nearly exceeded what had been dropped in that region in any month since the U.S. military surge began in earnest in June 2007.

I read that on infowars I just didn't get around to posting it. I have to admit it is pretty crazy. 40,000 pounds of bombs is alot of death.

They have caused genocide in Iraq. You will never see this in US history books. The US has done nothig but worsen the beautiful landscapes of Iraq by destroying lands, homes, masjids and killing hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. May Allah swt curse and punish these kuffars in the afterlife.

In another report they said it was 38 bombs to hit TWO houses. Go figure..they must be blind, too.

Thanks for posting this sad story.

So far Bush has killed about a million Iraqis in this war. It is even more sad that no Muslim country has raised any protest against it. Why are they all afraid so much ?
