Assalamu Walikum wa rahmatullah,
Dear Sister,
Masha Allah, you have taken a good initiative.
I would start by mentioning some Hadeeths which is related to asking forgiveness from Allah(s.w.t.).
1.Allah's Messenger (SAW) said: "By Allah, I seek the forgiveness of Allah, and repent to Him more than seventy times in a day.
Reference: Al-Bukhari, cf. Al-Asqalani, Fathul-Bari 11/101.
2.Allah's Messenger (SAW) said: "O people, repent to Allah, for I verily repent to Him one hundred times a day.
Reference: Muslim 4/2076.
3.Allah's Messenger (SAW) said: "The closest that the slave comes to his Lord is when he is prostrating, so invoke Allah much (in prostration)."
Reference: Muslim 1/350.
4.Allah's Messenger (SAW) said: Whoever says:
'Astaghfirullaahal-'Adheemal-lathee laa 'ilaaha 'illaa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyoomu wa 'atoobu 'ilayhi.
I seek the forgiveness of Allah the Mighty, Whom there is none worthy of worship except Him, the Living, the Eternal, and I repent to Him,
Allah will forgive him even if he has deserted the army's ranks.
Reference: Abu Dawud 2/85, At-Tirmithi 5/569.
You can Follow some tips for staying away from sinning.
1) Starting Praying obligatory ones and even Sunnah (Moakkadah) supererogatory Prayers as well as Tahjjud.
You can seek forgiveness from Allah(s.w.t) in Tahjjud Prayer because our Beloved Prophet Mohammed(s.a.w.s.) said: "The closest that the Lord comes to the slave is in the last portion of the night. So, if you are able to be among those who remember Allah in this hour, then be among them."
2) Read Quran daily with understanding and try to memorize it
3) Make your tongue supple with dhikr Allah (remembrance of Allah): We can fight Satan only with the weapon of dhikr. The Prophet said, 'Satan runs through the blood veins of the children of Adam; but when he makes dhikr, Satan retreats'. So through dhikr and seeking refuge in Allah, and imploring Allah's help, we can surely guard against sins.
4) Make yourself busy with good deeds. As Imam Shafi'i said, if a person is not occupied with what is good, Satan will surely find ways of making him occupied with his works. So, decide how would you like to spend your time each day? Remember the time is all that we have to buy our place in jannah. So killing time is not an option for a person who believes in heaven and hell.
5) Keep company with the righteous people who would inspire you to be good--those who are conscious of Allah and are motivated to learn and practice Islam.
One last Thing I would like to mention if you really want to stay away from sinning, then Insha Allah , Allah will help you. He knows everything about you including your Intention.
