help regarding islamic studies

Assalamualaikum

I will be going for my military service for 2 years starting this July. After that i wish to study sharia' or the like.

Well my problem is where can I find a decent yet trustworthy colleges? I've heard of AlQura and Madinah universities but looking at the entry requirements I do not think I'm capable since I don't have an Islamic studies background.

Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

Masha'allah! May Allah swt's help be with you through this learning journey Insha'allah.
I'm not sure abt other places, But where I live, in MN- there's a uni called 'Islamic University of Minnesota'- and the good thing is, All you need is a HS diploma, you don't need to have a good knowledg, there job is to teach you that....so it's pretty cool!

In some Arabic country they do but you have to search for it and since you got all the time in the world(since you are very young) You can contact the Arab embassy and Malaysia embassy like for information University Malaya and UIA and I understand Indonesia have some offer in such situation too.Contact these named respective embassy in your country to know the details!iNSYA ALLAH you will find it.

Akhi, if you're interested to pursue at my place, we have UIA and UM (University Malaya). Even though you may not have any background in Islamic courses before, InshaAllaah you can request for that during the foundation. Recently, our Ministry of Education advertised a form to pursue studies in Al-Azhaar. I actually saved the application form but I think I'm not eligible for that. What I understood, one must pass the STAM (Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia) which is one of the requirements. Try browsing around your Ministry of Education website.

And we actually have MEDIU (Al-Madinah International University) where the campus is in Shah Alam, Malaysia. Browsing through their website, seems kind of good to me. http://www.mediu.edu.my/

Try searching as many site as you can and those that will suit to your best interest. InshaAllaah in the end, you'll find just the right one for you. All the best!

P.S: Is it mandotary for every Singaporean teenager (guys only of course) to join the military? If it is so, I believe its the same as in South Korea.

BarakAllah ukhti. I've been jumping from site to site to look for which suits me. And I know insya Allah I'll find one! I'll have like 2 years to search for a school lol.

Anyway yes it is compulsory for every male citizens to join the military. I cant wait to get over it.
