The City College Chapter of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) is an organization dedicated to encouraging its members to pursue a career in engineering. According to our mission statement (see attachment) we will establish a support system, that will not only benefit the Mechanical engineering students, but all engineers at the City College of New York (CCNY) and the community in which we reside.
Attending professional conferences gives our members exposure to the field of engineering. At the Regional Dinners and the Annual Conferences, students gain exposure to different corporations, research seminars, and students from other universities. At these meetings, students are fully shown the diversity of the engineering discipline.
Our dedication to the development of our members, community, and the student body as a whole will led to the development of professional and technical workshops and a high school outreach program. The main goals of all these programs are to promote the field of engineering and to encourage the development of future professionals. As well as these programs, we also plan on holding joint meetings with other engineering clubs, such as the engineering honors society Tau Beta Pi (TBP) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Moreover, we are also planning to have joint programs with Manhattan College and Columbia University, as well as other neighboring colleges in spring 2012.
For the 2011 academic year, an objective of the NSPE CCNY chapter is to promote unity among all classmen via implementing the programs stated below. We sincerely hope that through these programs, we can encourage the development of friendships and networks that will last a lifetime. We hope to be the link between upper and lower classmen and break communication barriers among the engineering disciplines by executing various activities that are acknowledged below.
