waalaikum musalam..

ya true....... but in ma fiqh classes they taught us that itz not right to respod to the recorded azaan ......

and the reason my teacher quoted was " would u follow a jamah which is shown on the TV ....obiviously no right bcoz itz not live.......so she said same way the azaan should be live to respond to it......

it sounds logical........bt wen i searched i found some scholars opined that itz ok to respond if it is in exact time of the azaan........

now from all these im confused whethr to reply or not(i knw itz nt a big issue) still i hear this recorded one evryday in ma office dunno whethr i shuld answer it or not....

so, what am i supposed to do????

wa aleykum salaam,

then ask them is it haraam?

Now let us turn the subject to Music lovers.

just hearing being played you might have notice how ?
so it is something within self-and to you have these feelings of Adhan as great words

Allah is the Greatest....I don't see any reason why not to return; by heart.

for your information- United Arab emirates all their adhan are Pre recorded one Adhan to all Masjids;so what is the ruling of 'fiq'h'

Salam Alaykum,

No, you cannot answer the recorded adhaan.

But if anyone would like to learn how to give a call for prayers, he or she can repeat it only for learning purpose.

Also, if you find any of the recorded adhaan soothing i.e. the beautiful voice of the Muazzin, then you can repeat it considering it not to be the Live one of course.

brother, im living in dubai.....n for ur knowledge, in UAE only in abu dhabi and ajman they have made one azaan in all the mosque n moreover v hav dicussed abt this in our fiqh class.............The scholars in sharjah opined that itz not the recorded azaan they are circulating in all the masjid......itz actually a muazin from one mosque do call for prayer and with de help of technology they circulate that to all mosque at the same time......so it is live n nt the recoded one.................they also said that the azaan in the radio n TV n all is recorded long years ago

Waiyyakum,
Thats strange... 2 contradicting fatwas on islamqa.

:salam2:

In both fatawa there is one thing common,if it's live not recorded and time for prayer,it is to be responded,if recorded even if prayer time not to be responded. It is not waajib to respond to adhaan it is mashroo3(prescribed) Sunnah.

Quoted
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about the adhaan on the radio or television: should one respond to it? He replied:

With regard to this adhaan, one of two things must be the case:

(i) It is on the air, i.e., the adhaan is being given at the time of prayer by the muezzin. In this case it should be responded to, because of the general meaning of the command of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him): “When you hear the muezzin, say what the muezzin says.” But the fuqaha’ (may Allah have mercy on them) said: If he has offered the prayer for which the call is being given, he does not have to respond.

(ii) The adhaan is recorded and is not an adhaan being given at the time; in this case it should not be responded to, because it is not a real adhaan, i.e., the man is not giving it at the time it is commanded to give it; rather it is an audio recording of a previous adhaan.

End quote from Majmoo‘ Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, 12/196

Shaykh Ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked: Is it permissible to respond to the adhaan that comes from a radio or TV?

He replied:

If that is at the time of prayer then it is prescribed to respond to it, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When you hear the muezzin then say what he says, then send blessings upon me, for whoever sends one blessing upon me, Allaah will send ten blessings upon him in return, then ask Allaah to grant me al-waseelah, which is a position in Paradise that will be granted to only one slave of Allaah, and I hope that I will be the one, then intercession will be granted to him.” Narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh.

And he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever says when he hears the call to prayer, ‘Allaahummah Rabba haadhihi’l-da’wat il-taammah wa’l-salaat il-qaa’imah, aati Muhammadan al-waseelata wa’l-fadeelah, wab’athhu maqaaman mahmoodan alladhi wa’adtahu (O Allaah, Lord of this perfect Call and the Prayer to be offered, grant Muhammad the privilege and also the eminence, and resurrect him to the praised position that You have promised), will be granted my intercession on the Day of Resurrection.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari in his Saheeh. Al-Bayhaqi added with a hasan isnaad after the words “that You have promised” “innaka laa tukhlif al-mee’aad (You do not break Your promise).” End quote.

Majmoo’ Fataawa Ibn Baaz (10/363).
