Holy month of Ramadan is the ninth month of lunar calendar. In this month Muslims observe fasting throughout the whole month with a duration of Fajr to Maghrib. Although fasting in this month is religiously obligatory, but apart from religious factor Ramadan is beneficial for physical health likewise patience, control over thirst and hunger etc. Importance of Ramadan is inflicted by this verse of Holy Quran.

"Ramadan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur’an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (Should be made up) by days later. Allah intends every facility for you; He does not want to put to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful." (Chapter 2, verse 185)

In the sacred month of Ramadan Holy Quran is revealed by pious angel of Allah Almighty (SWT) Hadrat Jibrael (AS) on Prophet Hadrat Muhammad (PBUH). So due to such importance Muslims recite Holy Quran and several arrangements are made in this regard to listen Holy Quran online on internet and on other media. For this sake a special congregational prayer ‘Taraveeh’ is organized throughout the Holy Ramadan, in which special arrangements are made for Holy Quran recitation.

In the last Ashra of Holy month of Ramadan night of revelation occur which is known as “Night of Power or Destiny”. It is not told by Holy Prophet (PBUH) that which night is specifically dedicated for night of revelation and it was commanded to find that night in the last Ashra.

"Lo! We revealed it on the Night of Predestination. Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Night of Power is! The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein, by the permission of their Lord, with all decrees. (The night is) Peace until the rising of the dawn." Sura 97 (Al-Qadr)

Being pillar of Islam, Fasting has its own importance. Like wise other pillars of Islam some of which demand financial ability like Zakah and some physical like Salah, but in case of fasting it requires both financial and physical ability i.e. financial for Zakah during Ramadan and physical for fasting. May Allah Almighty help us in achieving the goals of Ramadan.
