I just wanted to share some ways I find a lot of great pricing on things that I can buy online. In fact, before I buy an item, I take my time look online and then see if they are on sale locally for a lesser price.
First I check these pages that are updated by people that share deals they find online. It cost nothing and all they do is tell you where the sale is. Pay attention to discount codes you need to use.
If the item is not in these pages, then I go to method 2, just google the item and go through hits and be careful on the seller. Sometimes a couple dollars more from a good seller is better than unknown.
Lastly, if I must, try to go with craigslist, search for your area, basically it is a no cost way to put something for sale and buy from sellers locally. But proceed with caution because anybody can post almost anything and as you know not all people are honest, there are scammers.
This process that I have really calms down the impulse to buy something and allows you to think if you really need that item or not.
