This is a question that have been circulating in my mind for a while now, and it may have been asked & answered here in this vast trail of threads already but here it goes:

Does our religion, Islam, restrict us from celebrating holiday's other than that of Islamic holidays such as Thanksgiving?

I mean we are allowed to eat Turkeys so long they are slaughtered according to Islamic sharia (Halal). And actually I've seen Muslims here in America celebrating Thanksgiving. If you can, please give detail why or why not. I’m not looking for a “yes” “no” answer.

Thank you.
