Is music haram?

a lot of Muslims say music is haram some it isn't. I want to whether it is haram or permissible, I don't listen to it much but I would like have a answer to this question.

yes. All musical instruments are haram except the daff/duff (one sided drum) which too is allowed on specific occasions, such as weddings, announcements, etc.

It's true that some Muslims unfortunately think music is permissable in Islam, however, the evidences for it's prohibition is in the Quran and hadith. Plus, music is not good at all for the heart of the Muslim. The more one listens to music, the more he/she will forget about Allah. Music is one of the weapons of the shaytan especially the music of today. It's filled with so much evil. I hope all Muslims young and old will stay far away from it.
