Is this university course "halal"?

Salam to you all!

I would like to pose a question about a work colleague of mine that has recently revealed to me what she'd like to study at university. She is also Muslim.

She would like to go into Fashion Designing. She has a place at university, but i wasnt sure if this course is accpeted by Islam. the course included drawing, probably the human figure too, and photography. also some people design clothes that Muslim women cannot wear although my friend says shes be designing suitable clothes. I'd appreciate some insight, inshallah.

Drawing sketches is ok, she'll be drawing clothes, not people.

thanks! ill inform her i just thought that that fashion industry is all about sex and photos and models and all that stuff these days so it might be haram. but she doesnt want to do anything provocative. it might involve drawing people for course work though

Indeed it would nice to have some variety. It takes ages for me to shop for decent modest clothing. Not many options in the south. Instead of a one hour shopping trip for less modest women..it takes me double lol. :blackhijab:

mashallah its a gd thing that ur frnd wants to study fashion designing, we want all our muslim borthers and sisters to be educated and contirbute in all sectors e.g doctors, engineers, space scientist and etc and this will inshalah one day make we muslims more stronger cos we gna have an educated and a established nation inshallah.......
