Sister Jennifer, Yeshua is Gods word. Even the Qur'an says this is so. If muslims believe the Qur'an to be divine then it has to be an "associate" to the Allah. As it is a separate entity ya? If the Qur'an is divine and Gods word then it is eternal as God is eternal. So we have two eternals to Allah. Yet Allah is One. We add Allah's spirit, then voila, we have same God as described in the Bible. How can this be?
Jesus(a.s.)'s being Allah's word means, the word "BE" as in;
Originator of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, "Be," and it is.(2:117)
For you, as well, Allah said "be" and your creation has started. In the sense of being God's word, you,i and every creations of Allah are equal. So, you are wrong there.
The miracle is Jesus was born without a father, similar to Adam(a.s.) who was created without a father and mother.
I would like to clarify few things from Islamic point of view without wanting to engage in any debate...
I think you're confusing concepts in current christianity and meaning of verses of Qur'an... for instance, you believe the meaning " word of God" in the Qur'an is the same as what is taught in christianity as a concept...
firstly, "word of God" in the Qur'an is simply how it reads "word of God". "Word of God" as in finilisation of things by simply commanding it to be so... I hope there is no complication in this simple language!
secondly, when Jesus(p.b.u.h) is referred to as "Word of God", it is well indicated in the Qur'an that it means " Be and he was"... so Allah said to the initially nothing Jesus "Be" and he was" without the intervention of a father just like the case of Adam(p.b.u.h).
It seems you also confuse "spirit" in the Qur'an to some other teaching... spirit=soul
After 40 nights in the mother's womb, the soul is blown into the foetus as per the Islamic teaching... so we are all given soul=spirit and it is all created and from Allah... Jesus too was the word of Allah i.e Be ...and he was too given spirit/soul from Allah!... it's never seen how the Qur'an suggests anything close to the core teachings of current christianity!
Thirdly, in the few places where Spirit is used as a proper noun in the Qur'an, it refers to Angel Jibriil(p.b.u.h) and not Jesus(P.b.u.h)
The Qur'an too is the actual word spoken by Allah and that makes it divine! Does that mean it is equal to Allah? My God! How could things get so much twisted and confusing in christianity that one could raise such a question!... These are words and since spoken by the Divine The Maker, they too must be divine... What's equal to Who there! It's the same as saying "your hands have the same right as you do" now what's that suppossed to mean!
"in the beginning there was the word..." as found in christianity is not the "word" you find in the Qur'an... the former is unexplainable, mistranslated and hard to digest, the latter is simple concise language!

OK, it's my bad English i guess.
Regardind Jesus(a.s.) being Allah's word, you imply that he is etarnal and an associate to Allah and you use Qur'an to support your claim. What i said was you are wrong and the verse you are using does not mean that.
When Allah wishes to create something, He just says "BE". This was the case with Jesus as well as any of his creation. "The word" did not make Jesus any special than you or anybody. Brother cabdixakim explained it better.
I can see your point according to your faith, i am not saying you are wrong or right because that is how you believe. I just hope that you understand islamic view on the matter.
Yes, I try hard to see the islamic view. I try to concentrate on the similarities between our respective faiths.
This video below might help clear up some misconceptions:
Dear Sister Cariad what do u mean by "Qur'an contains errors"???

Please disregard all my posts in this thread. I humbly request a moderator remove them. I sincerely apologise for any offence that my words may have caused. I assure you it was not intentional on my part. I'm afraid I am rather out spoken person and am also honest in my view. There are times however, that I am too out spoken for my own good. I should appreciate that words spoken without due consideration for the feelings of others may hurt. I have often felt this same hurt so I should be doubly aware not to be the cause.
I humbly ask your forgiveness.
May Allah reward you Sister. May Allah forgive us all and accept us for his mercy.
There this nothing for forgiveness i think. You are such a humble sister. Ma sha Allah.
