'Koran burning' in Kandahar by foreign troops

Protesters alleging that foreign troops burned a copy of the Koran have clashed with Afghan and coalition troops in Helmand province, police say.

They said that at least six people were killed in the violence which took place in Garmsir district.

A Nato spokesman denied that foreign troops had desecrated Koran. He said only an insurgent sniper was killed.

Violence in south Afghanistan has risen recently as UK and US forces continue their offensive against the Taliban.

Violence erupted on Tuesday in the Garmsir district over rumours that Nato-led forces had defiled a copy of the Muslim holy book during a military operation, local residents and police said.

According to reports, more than 1,000 protesters gathered to demonstrate.

The shooting of the protesters occurred after an Afghan national guardsman was killed by gunfire "from the demonstrators' side", the AFP news agency quoted deputy provincial police chief Khamal Dinkhan as saying.

Nato-led International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) said in a statement on Tuesday that its troops had shot dead an "insurgent sniper" who had shot an Afghan official in the Garmsir area.

"While denying these allegations, we take them very seriously and support a combined investigation with local Afghan authorities," Isaf spokesman Maj-Gen Michael Regner said.

"Isaf is an international force that includes' Muslim 'soldiers', and we deplore such an action under any circumstances."

A Nato spokesman said there was no information to back up claims of civilian deaths in the incident.

Civilian deaths at the hands of foreign troops have led to widespread anger among Afghans.

President Hamid Karzai has previously said that such deaths were damaging to the fight against militancy.

OF COURSE THERE R FOREIGN TROOPS WHO PUT VIDEOS OF QURAN SHOOTING ON YOUTUBE.so this is not surprising.what is surprising is our helplessness.

This is their response.
Last Sunday, the American and Coalition invading troops burnt a copy of the Holy Quran in Darvishan area of Garamsir district, Helmand province. Thousands of residents of this district took to the street on 12.10.2010 to protest against this blasphemous act



when the invading troops and their hirelings soldiers opened fire on the demonstrators pointblank. As usual, farcically, they claimed that a sniper from among the demonstrators had fired at them or that the demonstrators had thrown stones at the security department of the district. These are the same hackneyed lies, which the public of the world have been hearing for the last eight years. Last October, the invading Americans committed desecration of the Holy Quran in Wardak province and self-same blasphemous events have taken place in Kandahar and Lghman provinces after which the invaders martyred civilians, protesting against the desecration.

Americans have been trampling down on religious, social, cultural and economic rights of the people under the notorious name of War on Terror in order to bring people under their colonialist tentacles.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is determined to take its revenge on the Americans and other foreign invaders at the battlefield, for the desecration of the Holy Quran and the martyrdom of the innocent Afghans. God willing, we will give them unforgettable lesson for their crimes. However, we remind the public of the world that the world and Islamic Ummah are grappling with a crisis about their future because of the barbaric tyranny and domineering conduct of America. This crisis will come to an end only when the public of the world and the Islamic Ummmah rise against the anti-human colonialist crimes of America and her invading Allies.

Now it has been proved that the invading Americans tread on the humane and religious values of people in Afghanistan. They are involved in genocide and racial cleansing which resulted in the killing of thousands of civilians in Afghanistan last year.

They regularly let loose their trained dogs on the people. Even, in this regard, they do not spare innocent women but usually take people out of their houses and martyr them and commit desecration of sacrosanct.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan calls on all independent institutions, entities, leaders, writers and statesmen to join their voice with that of the Islamic Emirate to defend the common and shared values of humanity. By doing so, they would accomplish their responsibility in the way of reining in the insatiable demon of Western colonialism in this 21st century
