Leniency in Collection
The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Whoever extends the time-limit for a debtor who is in difficulty or waives the debt altogether, Allah will shade him with His shade.” [Musnad Ahmad]
The Shade of Allah’s Throne is not limited to the seven categories of people mentioned in the famous hadith of Saheeh Bukhari and Saheeh Muslim. Many ahadith indicate that Allah will shade others too. One of these other categories of successful people who will be shaded are those who show leniency in collecting debts, and either extend the time-limit (of repayment) for a debtor or waive the debt altogether.
