:salam2:
I'd like to write a little piece for the sisters. I just went to a muslim gathering event in a park today and I am just amazed with how the sisters carry Islam with how they dress. It was a 100+F heat and the nonmuslims were showing all the skin they can, but yet I see the sisters fully covering themselves. Someone in line behind me said to his lady friend, "Look at her, she's wearing all black."
Even myself with the white shirt and pants I felt very hot and sweaty, but I saw the sisters were still cool with the way they dress. Not to mention the looks and stares they get from other visitors. Myself even with my kufi I feel very self conscious sometimes; that people would look at me differently. I know it's not mandated in Islam but hey, the kufi is what I can wear to show the muslim identity. Alhamdulillah people greet me with salaams when I wear it.
And especially for niqabi sisters, I can only say :mashallah: MashAllah. I can't imagine how someone can show their devotion like that. And I don't believe that niqab is a barrier to society, etc. I met the family of an imam; the wife was wearing niqab and there were no barriers. She spoke in a kind and articulate manner, and was very friendly to the little kids that walked by. She asked for prayers for her little daughter so that she can also follow in wearing niqab.
Again, I pray that you can be steadfast in your practice and keep carrying Islam wherever you go. May Allah protect you always.
I am inspired to start showing my Islam with what I can.
