AS WR WB Ya jema'a,

I am wondering when I come across the following statements about Gadafi and Libya. Are these statements really true? If so, why people rebel against him?

1. There is no electricity bill in Libya; electricity is free for all its citizens.

2. There is no interest on loans, banks in Libya are state-owned and loans given to all its citizens at 0% interest by law.

3. Home considered a human right in Libya – Gaddafi vowed that his parents would not get a house until everyone in Libya had a home. Gaddafi’s father has died while him, his wife and his mother are still living in a tent.

4. All newlyweds in Libya receive $60,000 Dinar (US$ 50,000 ) by the government to buy their first apartment so to help start up the family.

5. Education and medical treatments are free in Libya. Before Gaddafi only 25% of Libyans are literate. Today the figure is 83%.

6. Should Libyans want to take up farming career, they would receive farming
land, a farming house, equipments, seeds and livestock to kick- start their farms – all for free.

7. If Libyans cannot find the education or medical facilities they need in Libya, the government funds them to go abroad for it – not only free but they get US $2, 300/mth accommodation and car allowance.

8. In Libyan, if a Libyan buys a car, the government subsidized 50% of the price.

You should add 17

17. Ghaddafi was a Kaffir who banned the Hadiths and the Sunnah. He ordered people to memorize his "Green Book" which he made and tried to replace the Quran as the book of the Lybians.

Just by this it would not be allowed for Muslim Lybians to even live in Lybia no matter what benefits this man gave.

If he had been a Muslim even an Oppresive One at that then it would not be allowed to rebel against him. But he wasnt even a Muslim since scholars already declared him to be a kaffir for a long time.

Asalaamu Alaikum,

Why do I doubt alot of those statements?

He banned people from growing beards (Astagfurillah), a Sunnah of Muhammad(pbuh).

Just read this -

Under the autocratic Gaddafi's idiosyncratic brand of communal socialism overlaying Islam, worship was carefully regulated and any apparent manifestation of political, or militant, Islam drew harsh security crackdowns.

Yet Libyan society remained religiously conservative in character and that is now flowering anew in the rebel-held east. In signs of greater Muslim piety, some rebels have grown longer beards, public prayer has become ostentatious, religious books are selling well and plans are afoot for more centres for the study of Shari`ah, or Islamic law -- all of which, under Gaddafi, could have led to arrest and imprisonment.

Allah(swt) took care of the one who oppressed his own Religion and people.

There are only three facts which are correct in the above propaganda.

The price of bread. The price of petrol and education is free of fees and free of knowledge.

Does it really make a difference in the scale of things?

If a man were to kill 50 people, then give an apple in charity, where should the focus and attention be? Praising the apple? Or condeming?

This person oppressed not only against people, but spoke against Islaam, distorted it in various ways and commited many crimes, so the fact that minimal good came out of a corrupt regime is not enough to give any lick of respect from people who are able to reflect and rationalize.

Aapa

Assalaam walaikum,

If a man killed a 100 people and asked Allah for forgiveness is he not forgiven?

Allaah knows best. We cant say yay or nay; Allaah's mercy is vast but He is Most Just. Reptentance has conditions and many factors play into this which we humans just cannot judge, and we really cant say anything.

But how does this relate to the topic?

Aapa

Mirajmom
Assalaam walaikum,

Sister,

I have read so much and the more I read the more I wonder if someone in Hollywood is making the script.
Its too much information from everywhere...money..oil...money..oil...bodies...what facts? Facts seem to present themselves as people wish.

We have opinions from everyone..lets wait and see what happens..we know the US is there..with the UK..that is all we know.

These are separate talking points.

I worry about the outcome as well and hope for the best, even though like I've said it may be a very very difficult process for a good outcome, but that does not connect to who Gaddafi himself was, or the regime he was leading.

Many make these 'facts' talking points, exaggerate them and try to in some way exhonorate the person, which is of course ridiculous.

May Allaah bring ease to the people of Libya and elsewhere and make their states better than what was there before.

I do not know how Allah is going to treat him, he called himself king of kings. Too much of arrogance. Libyans lost spirituality under him. Now he is gone. May Allah help them.
