Assalaam walaikum,

Kalil Gibran is an American-Lebanese author. He was a philosopher. His most famous work is The Prophet. It is a wonderful piece of work.

He was very popular when I was growing up. He was one of the best sold authors in the world becuase of The Prophet.

He has a lot of love. The Prophet is a good read. It makes you think.

It is not Islamic. It is literature. And it is excellent literature. In a way after reading The Prophet, you pray with more sincerity. He paints the world in a beautiful way.

He was a major influence to me for raising my children. He writes that a mother is a vessel for a child. The child is never hers. So, love the child, teach the child, love the child and enjoy your role in the child's life. But the life belongs to Allah. I am the gardener in the Garden of Love. Love is the Owner of the garden.

I just wished he had embraced Islam. His works would have been profound. He walked by the garden of Love. He did not enter it. He described the contents without touching them, smelling them, or taking care of them.

Hm. I haven't read any of his works. Don't know him.

But I don't like philosophers in general ... some of the stuff they spout, eish. I don't have the patience for them, and some of them are very very wrong and say many things which are inherently kufr. And I don't know if I would read any philosophy books unless I had to, and even that with trying to have a solid ground on Islaam and my own Imaan, and having at least a good understanding of Aqeedah.

You dont want to adopt strange principles or ideas which could be against Islaam through these types of people or books.

Assalaam walaiklum,.

It will take you half an hour to read the Prophet. It is a wonderful book.

It is not deep stuff. That is why he is so popular.

You keep thinking about our Prophet.
