Assalaamu 'alaykum!
The Prophet (saw) said:
The woman chosen for marriage should be one with good character as well as some beauty. And perhaps it is for the wosdom that she may safeguard her husband and help him in lowering his gaze because amongst the goals of marriage are the lowering of the gaze, safeguarding the private parts, and increasing the Ummah of Muhammad.

“Try to marry the one who is religious, your hands will be filled with dust.” (An arabic expression meaning, ‘your hands will be filled with good.’) [Bukhaaree, Muslim, An-Nisaa'ee, Aboo Daawood, Ibn Maajah & Ahmad]
And form the completeness of her deen is for her to have good character. A woman with a bad character will be bad towards her husband and will destroy his life. In a hadeeth narrated by Aboo Moosaa Al-Ash’aree, the prophet (saw) said:
“There are three who supplicate to Allaah and their supplication will not be answered… a man who has with him a woman with evil character and he didn’t divorce her…” [As-Saheehah, 1805]
A woman who has an evil character will turn the life of her husband into hell and misery. It will make him busy with worries and it will make him forget the remembrance of his Lord.
